I wouldn't waste too many gems on the Apoc just yet. I believe it's around until Jan 9 and it only costs 130 gems if you need to just buy it. It should be easier to breed once all the limiteds go away on Jan 2. If there are any other limiteds that you need I'd focus on them for now since the Apoc will be around a full week after they are gone (not sure about Gift though, I haven't heard how long it will around.)
@Jtfields -Good advice on the Apocalypse. @dlstar- you saved 1000 gems, nice! I think it was girlpower who did it earlier. Maybe AK or Alyjens too? I couldn't have done it myself especially while all the Limiteds are back for a limited time. So hallelujah! I just got an Emerald cooking. I can't believe it! That's the last Limited I needed. I sped 4 Ash and/or Quake thru until I ran out of hatchery room then bingo! 25 hour wait. Yay! It was the only gem I missed getting its display egg. It's also the first time I've dropped below 100 saved gems, don't like that. Thanks gem gifting friends! Happy holidays all!
Sorry, I don't have any better combos- I used Lichen/Mag for both of mine. In seeking all my missings I was really lucky not to get one Rainbow/Sun/Silver/Blue Moon as fails. I had plenty of Crystal fails though. All I need now is Platinum #1 and Seasonal #2, and some display eggs......until January.
I just bred my first lyd!!! I just got my first-ever LYD using Lichen+Magnetic! I know most of you won't care but I'm happy!
When the LYD was originally released it was around for a very short period, the shortest of any of the limiteds I can think of. I remember frantically breeding and buying gems for a couple of days. I also remember the relief when I finally got my second to complete my pair. Weird how a silly farm-type game could get me so worked up.
Leap years are awesome - earn the same as rainbows, breed in a fraction of the time. I've expanded all my rainbow habitats and filling them with LYs. I got my missing second love, a platinum (after the horrors of gold, I was shocked) and 2 apocalypse. Working on second Gift and seasonal.
Okay, I guess I was wrong... Almost everyone I know is annoyed or just plain angry that all of the limiteds are back. It's probably mostly because of high-frequency breeders (ugh...remember Firework? I probably got at least 100 in a couple of weeks) that sort of take away from the current limiteds. But since I've been away for so long, I'm glad to get anything that is the least bit out of the ordinary.
Congrats Blue! Yeah this was the only dragon I completely missed out on (now I have 2) back in Feb I was away on a trip and didn't have wifi most of the time. I was so bummed to find out it had come and gone before I got home. LY had a super short window. I thought I'd have to wait 4 years for the next chance! I know what you mean - I've thought about quitting several times but here I am. Early on I did stop for a while but my daughter dragged me back in... now she's not playing and I keep harassing her to come back. Lol.
I quit because there was a huge amount of new dragons and features coming out at the same time as cool started, and I had half as much time to breed twice as many dragons. But since its Christmas break, and the actual holiday is over, I have nothing to do but sit around and read and play on the iPad.
omg should of checked how many gem it was before spending all gems i did speeding up fails lol thanks for the heads up. So far from all the returns i need is Sakura and Clover. Today got my first Butterfly. Will just leave Apocalypse alone till jan 2nd.
I'm interested to see what everyone got at the end of the day on January 2nd. I'm very happy with what I was able to get after 8 months away, helped me play a little catch up. I didn't go after any gem dragons so will have to wait on those to come back around. Still need a second apocalypse but it will wait until after the 2nd. A good DV holiday indeed. Hopefully the new year brings some more bots to gizmonauts though, that is starting to get stale.
Spent almost 3 days using Tree/Flower in both island/cave and got one Sakura out of it. Still trying for a display egg, but I will only use the cave on that. Have to make up time getting Love dragon and egg. Will work on display eggs for: Butterfly, Firework, Ghost and Bloom. I will skip eggs for Gem dragons -- they can wait -- deadline is almost here. I am beyond disappointed I this game. In fact, I'm downright angry. My leap year dragon, the one that I worked so hard to breed, the one that I spent so much time celebrating over, is gone. Gone! Disappeared from my park without a trace, before I could place it in the nursery, before I could put it in the habitat I bought for it, it disappeared! If this is the way BFS handles their players and the games of those players that work hard to achieve their goals, then they won't be getting any more time or money for me. I'm done with DragonVale.
I have to agree it sounds as ridiculous as it is, but I've added up my money earnings/spendings in my head lately (it isn't much since I've been busy the last few days) and there's no way I could have accidentally sold it and come up with the total I have now. I'm connected to a stable Wifi connection and my iPad is using the latest iOS and running the latest game version. so now I'm out for the price of the habitat I bought in anticipation, and the element flags I bought to decorate the area around it. I know, it's just a game, but I've come to enjoy it and this is a nightmare....
Finally finished my Egg Island. Complete grid for the elements/hybrids along with every Gemstone, limited and Epic. Also have a Firefly egg on a Fire Pedestal from back before BFS reversed its element order. Can't believe how many months that took to complete. Now I can enjoy it for a whopping 3 days before the next Gemstone comes out and my island will immediately be rendered incomplete again.
