Thanks @girlpower...I'm going to try the Ice/fire when these two are done before I go to bed. I always tend to put the fire first I think. I totally agree about the random part. It's just all luck and being stubborn breeding 24/7. The part that's bizarre is trying trying for a certain dragon for weeks and then getting them tenfold. I think the game is just designed to make us all nuts. (kidding, of course )
If it was easy to get it wouldnt be so special. If its giving you the shits, maybe you need to find a different game lol. Its definitely possible, i got 2 rainbows over the course of 2 weeks. You can also breed rainbow with rainbow, which i now have 7 total
Do you have them at different growth stages? I've never seen anyone with something like that. Ever. If I had 2 rainbows, that's what I'd do!

Yesterday in frustration I bought 50 gems. Wasted it! After yet another unsuccessful attempt to get 48hrs breeding time and running out of crystals something died inside me... I am breeding the dragons still, but I am no longer "fired up" about this game. I think it crosses a fine line between fun and frustration. Devs should look at Pocket Frogs for inspiration. That game also needs patience but is far from being frustrating. It is actually fun. I am so sick of trying all these combinations with no result. Some suggested that geneology of dragons is also important, i.e. two fireflies that resulted from different combinations will have different chances of successfully breeding the rainbow when crossed with the same seaweed. Thats just messed up if true! I am also not breeding blue fire with crystal again. 3 crystals in a row!!! Anyway, good luck to all of you.

@eugekava I have been feeling the exact same way for a few weeks now actually, and it's all because of this extreme randomness, and the fact that my closest GC friends have got most of their rare dragons, one friend started a few weeks after me....... Please don't read this the wrong way....I am really happy for them, that's a given, but it keeps hammering home to me that I am being left behind in a really big way and as I am all about fairness and a fair go for all, this just doesn't sit right with me. I don't even mind that some dragons are random, but when one has been trying over and over for weeks to get one, then someone posts they got their sun/moon/rainbow/sandstorm/ or blue fire on their first go......well this is when I feel this app is really out of balance. For the first month of playing this app, I just couldn't get enough of it and really enjoyed it, in fact it was my all time fav. Most of that has diminished for me now and I just go through the motions because I am always "hopeful" that I surely must get these 3 elusive, feels like impossible dragons.......brought gems 3 x now, but have used them very sparingly and still have all but 3 of my last 50....the rest are earned and gifted. Its rare that I speed the failures up unless I am about to go to bed and may use 1 or 2 gems to finish a failed breeding, just in case I get that magical 48 hr timer just before going to bed.....haha, the shock would probably prevent me from sleeping anyway. I spent ages rearranging my Islands and working out how to have ALL my dragons earning in the positive range. Nothing to spend all that money on now anyway, it still felt like an achievement seeing the + green colour on all earnings though....this will change if I hatch my 2 extra Blue Fires though, they will both be in - red earnings Anyway, guess this is my usual long winded way of saying, you are not the only one feeling this way

I shall share my own experience. I aren't a hacker per se but I am quite frustrated in getting the sun/moon dragon. Bought 50 gems to give it a try but nothing came out. Wasted my money. Nonetheless, eager to know the breeding combination, I used my jailbreak ipod with another account to find out what's the real combination. To my surprise, it's only lightning + cold that gives sun or moon and true enough, it depends on the time you breed. I think it goes by a 12-12 period where 12pm onwards give you sun and 12am onwards yields you a moon dragon instead. Currently, I am just breeding lightning + cold with my legit account, hoping for a miracle that will give me the elusive sun/moon (= On a side note, when I combined lightning + cold (Both lv 10, lvl doesn't matter, I got them at lv4 initially). Sometimes I got sun/moon at 20 tries, sometimes at 60th try, sometimes at my 1st try. it's quite humorous though to have 60 tries. Imagine how many days is it ? 5 X 60 = 300hours of hardcore breeding ( = I tried fire and lightning for 100 times. No rare dragon. So the types are confirmed for now, lightning + cold. Ask your lady for some luck before breeding. Kudos
I think after getting my sixth scorch in a row I'm ready to throw the phone against a wall. I think that the dev should do some adjustments honestly. Since level 20 is the "end" of the game why not open up the limitations? Such as a second breeding cave or allowing us to get more habitats? I've been level 20 for weeks and all my dragons are level 10 plus a few babies for the cute factor. Aside from trying for those elusive eggs I really have nothing to do in the game except sell eggs constantly due to lack of room. That being said, it's one of my favs. And yes, pocket frog breeding is way more "normal" and realistic. I love dragonvale but some things should be adjusted a bit.
heh, 6th scorch and you're done? Im trying for the Blue fire/ sun, and ive had something like 30 scorches,30 firefly's, 20 storms, and still no blue fire. I supported the randomness, and even defended it, but i'm getting a little sick of it now.
Well, now going on my ninth. Haha. No, I refuse to surrender. I've spent three or more months on the game so I'm stubborn about it. If I throw in the towel now just missing two dragons (moon and bluey),I'll feel I gave up. I have a feeling I'll end up with 30 like you. The irony doesn't evade me though. I tried weeks for just one darn scorch and ended up with only firefly. Now I haven't even gotten one firefly. It's just bizarre. I'm waiting to see of they throw a turkey dragon (like bone for Halloween) so I can go more insane.
Well i have bred my dragons until i am blue in the face. every single combo people mentioned getting a 48 hour egg out of. Today i bred my level 10 cold and level 10 lightening and nada... storm..again. so i bought me a new lightening egg, rushed it, leveled it to 10. same ol level 10 cold and the new lightening 10 and BAM! 48 hours! whoooo hoooooooo i am sooooo happy. hoping moon or sun!
I'm fast losing interest in this game due to the difficulty for some of us to get the Rainbow, Sun and Moon. I finally gave in and used the gems I was gifted to buy the Blue Fire. I don't expect a breeding that guarantees the outcome but after so many failed attempts without getting any of them it seems pointless to continue. I'm level 20, have all the other dragons and I only go in now to try once again to get that elusive 48 hour time.
Wow and I was SCARED! I just bred a cold and lightning dragon hoping for a storm dragon cuz they're fast to breed and pretty decent, but when i checked the breeding time, it said 1:24:00:00....and i freaked out. I was at level 14 when this happened btw. and it was a crappy level 7 lightning with a level 9 cold If it turns out to be either sun or moon....i feel kinda bad hearing about how many times some of you have tried....=/ They're still breeding though, so i have no way to be sure it IS one of the rare dragons. Does anyone know for sure that 48 hours of breeding will definitely result in either moon or sun? It would totally suck if i found out by the end of day two that it was just a stubborn storm dragon after this.
One thing this app does well is to show us where our trigger point is as far patience and frustration levels By reading the posts before yours, you will already know there's quiet a few of us having a rant after trying for weeks (literally), some only need 1-2 rare dragons, others still need 3-4 or maybe 5 (I am referring to those of us who have been playing for ages and lvl 20) with nothing left to do but breed, fail, hatch and sell. The one positive for you with getting all these scorches is.....at least it's only 3 hr fail times as opposed to say a 24 hr crystal fail ....and don't forget the phone isn't a boomerang, so if you throw it, it won't come back bit of light hearted humor there. Try and hang in there Bluangl27. Maybe we all should email Backflip Studios nicely letting them know how we feel? Maybe if enough of us do so, the devs may be more inclined to make this randomness less erratic to make it fairer for everyone....people power wins the day
