Thanks, I do feel your pain though lol it took me a month and a half to get my rainbow dragon and I had nearly given up on dragon breeding for life by that point and then it just randomly happened I'm not sure how I got lucky with the sun and moon, it was the first time I'd purchased gems too so I'm glad it worked out. It was pm but I bred sun later that evening so I'm not certain it matters. Don't give up!!!
If you aren't having any luck getting moon try using blue fire/storm next time and try 4 sun next. Best of luck to everyone
Thanks for the encouraging words Emz....guess I am just feeling a bit deflated. My game play is breed, fail, incubate, hatch, sell....day in day out. Hey there, Where have you been???? Haha, was wondering when you were gonna get those new habitats, but did see you have them now Hmm, how badly do you want the blue fire? If so, splash out and buy it. Way back I couldn't get a tree dragon for the life of me, just moss over and over...so I forked out 25 precious gems that I had saved hard for it cause I really liked that one. You know after all those levels ago, I have only been able to breed it once! That's why I have two tree drags. If the Sandstorm wasn't so expensive (gem wise) I would have got that by now, its like a thorn in my side. So far, no go with blue fire crystal anyway for me but I did note the other successful moon breeding via Dragonvale wiki that don't all use the elusive Blue Fire..... Can't vouch for wiki accuracy but some are posts from this forum also MOON combos as follows: Cold/lightning Ice/scorch Blue fire/fire Fire/storm SUN combos as follows: Blue fire/crystal Storm/mud Blue fire/storm Hope this helps.
Sheesh, these Sandstorm, Blue Fire, Sun and Moon are giving me a headache! Keep getting the longest breeding time fails...
me too - random is unfair some get them very quick other didn't after trying a week i wait for blu fire, swamp, crystal, rainbow, sandstorm, sonic, willow, sun, moon and i didn't know that the bone was offered for a limited time and i missed that, because i just startet playing - i had bought it for gems if i knew it
Mini rant I've been playing, breeding, since the first week DV came out. Still no rainbow. Do feel fortunate to have blue fire, bone and sandstorm. I just found out about sun and moon so will pursue them as soon as this latest fail gets out of the cave. (- in 16 hours >ugh< ) Thanks girlpower, for posting that sun moon list. I got a moon egg from a Scorch and Storm. I didn't get the checkered box. Mine was the moon egg. Was trying for Blue Fire that my husband bred using Scorch and Storm. Thought when I saw 48 hours that it was a Rainbow. But Moon instead.
Ha! Ha! That's how I've been feeling-have been trying for a Rainbow or sandstorm for weeks. But don't give up. I think I am finally breeding a Rainbow! (Has a 48 hr breed time) Did it with a Seaweed 10 & a Scorch 7. Is it possible that the randomness of this breeding thing is that (like gems are limited), the game is set to only give out a certain percentage of dragon types per day? Well, Sandstorm next & then on to Sun & Moon. Good luck everyone!
Today I bred two bones and got a bone. And when I got my rainbow dragon it happened on accident, I bred a tree and a fog. I'm pretty sure the tree dragon I bred by a flower and earth.
Sun/Moon/Rainbow breeding observation I just got my Moon Dragon yesterday, after getting Sun a day or two before. I used Storm/Mud for Sun, and got it after maybe 8 tries. Then I switched to different pairs to try for Moon, using the other combos that have been posted here and on other sites, thinking I'd have a better chance with a fresh pair - as well as to lessen the average breeding time with quicker combos - and I must have tried 30 times with no luck (I do buy gems to use to speed it up when I can afford them). I switched back to Storm and Mud and got Moon within 4 tries. Side note, it's nice to see an actual egg instead of a checkerboard! I wish I could have had a non-checkerboard sun egg too... Anyway, the point of my post is that the same thing happened to me when I bred Rainbow. Firefly/Swamp worked in 7 or 8 tries, then to get a 2nd Rainbow I tried several other combos about a million times, then got it within a few tries after switching back to Firefly/Swamp again. Has anyone else had this happen, or have you had better luck switching pairs? Based on my limited experience it seems using the same pair might be better, but I'd like to hear other people's experience. My moon is still incubating since I don't have enough gems right now to hatch it. I can't wait to see it! But the egg is cute next to the rainbow egg in my nursery (which I got by mistake while trying for Sun/Moon, and I don't have a habitat available for it without giving up one of my others). When I was trying so hard for a Rainbow I never dreamed I would someday be using a Rainbow egg for decoration!!! My username is Undizp on gamecenter, I'm happy to add anyone.
I bred two bone dragons and got a third, but it was before Halloween I think. My breeding cave is currently busy trying for Sandstorm, Blue Fire,& Rainbow. I am thinking I will wait till I get these or to level 20 before trying for Moon and Sun...I am at Level 19+
Have too many friends and not enough gens? I just found something out! You can give out more than 3 gems a day! Idk if everyone knows this and I'm just really late but I'll explain anyway. First. Give out your 3 gems to whoever you want Second. Go to a friends dragon park Three. Click on you friend list, you should have three more gems to give out! This might be a glitch on my iPad or on the app In general. I do not have a jail broken ipad either. Idk if this works for other people but for the last few days I have been able to give gems to all the like 18 people I'm friends with everyday.
Ahh....just did the storm/mud combo.....14 hr failure!!! To make it worse, I just used 11 gems to speed up the previous blue fire/crystal 14 hr failure to get another one with this combo. Eor, when you did your 8 attempts with these two, do you recall the failed breed times at all? I would hate to keep trying these two if its going to be a 14 hr wait for nothing, but I do thank you for posting your suggestion though.....it really is trial and error with some of these dragons, how to crack the trigger on mine (not referring to jail break) more a case of wanting to know how many more weeks (30+ days so far) before I could expect one success.....I JUST NEED SOMETHING here people....phew that's better
This has already come up previously, and the answer was, even though it looks like you are gifting them, only three per day get to their designated destination. Have you actually asked all 18 friends if they received them from you? That would confirm whether this glitch actually works, personally I don't think it does, but haven't bothered to find out for sure
Storm/Mud is one annoying combo! First fail was crystal, 24 hour wait. Second fail was Ice, 8 hour wait, then third fail was mountain, 14 hour wait lol... Think I'll try a shorter fail time combo!
I spent about $20 real money speeding up the breeding, ets. Figured that I spent so much time playing the game - it was worth it. Well, I have only 3 remaining - rainbow, sun and moon. Its getting so frustrating now! After I read that someone got Rainbow, Sun and Moon from Blue Fire/Crystal combo I tried it 7 times so far with mostly 12 hr fails. I decided not to spend any more money on this and just breed when I can and make money to decorate the islands. The X and Y breeding times intrigued me. I was thinking that the Sun and Moon habitats should be positioned in a certain way to make the success more likely. Perhaps moon should be on island 1 and Sun on island 3? Could those who did get Sun and Moon dragons please let us know where the respective habitats are located on their islands? This could be nothing but ... who knows?
I think the time has got to be a factor to breed them, most seem to be getting them either at 11am/pm or 1am/pm, different timezones perhaps? Just got another 24 hour fail with Storm/Mud combo... Grrrrr!
you should be more patient - that's a good game for learning patience i'm playing for 9 days and i only miss blue fire, crystal, rainbow, sandstorm, swamp, sun & moon - and that's OK - i'm allready at level 16 and got my third island - if i had bought so much gems i maybe would have less missing dragons but less to play for the future (like some others here, who don't know what to do with the game at level 20 and with all the dragons) i use to time the breeding & treating to my day & night i start treating for 6h and choose a combo which needs at least 5h before going to sleep - i also start 2h treating and another combo before leaving the house
