You don't have to apologize...I lurked for quite awhile before I got the 'courage' to post. And sometimes days go by before I post, but I almost always read daily. This 'place' gives me as much enjoyment as the game itself...I feel like we are all working together and it feels good to celebrate our successes and the failures don't seem so bad when you have a village cheering you on to persevere. I plan on continuing breeding the pair that got me the pearl, in various orders and in alternate caves until I get the second... I got a 24hr timer with lvl 12 fire + lvl 4 metal...so I believe a forge is on the way...it was the second try with that pair. I love the way the new upgraded caves look, but I am a gem hoarder and I am leery of using them all up...and doing the math and checking the market every time might drive me 'round the twist. Good luck everyone!
In my humble opinion, not worthwhile unless you like the look of the gold shrines and have saved oodles of dragon cash to feed your beasties up level 20. Sorry to report nothing amazingly cool...but then again I haven't done it, so maybe I'm wrong, or maybe BFS has something really cool in mind for the future. No one here has reported anything but the satisfaction of a job well done...it takes a lot of time, effort and dragon cash! That said, working towards gold shrines would also work towards XP levels beyond Level 30.
Kori/Korvaire, nice to see you post! Welcome. Hope your mni rant is successful. *hehe* I just logged in to tell you all that that Quicksilver is one seriously UGLY dragon! So, now it's out there. Even makes the Iceberg look cute if you ask me. But I know you didn't. Ask that is...
Hi guys, thought I'd update on my progress and maybe throw an alternative into the mix. Got my first pearl quite early, after 4 or 5 attempts, with level 14's. Bred another pair (seaweed and snow) which I levelled up to 11 (based on GP methodology) and tried for another non stop. No joy! So I gave the ordinary cave a break to try for forge, bingo first time! Back to using both caves for pearl, spookily I had a new seaweed and new snow hatch at the same time, so I ditched the level 11's, levelled the new ones to 4, put them into the EBC and bingo, second pearl! so happy! So tried yesterday for quicksilver after seeing it announced here (thanks D) and got one first attempt. I am so lucky and feel for all of you still trying for pearls, forges, etc, but just keep trying, they will come and try ditching a pair and using new ones - there's still two thirds of June left to get one. Good luck to you all
Mine is due to hatch in the next hour or so, so I'll really look forward to seeing it . I didn't think anything could be uglier than the iceberg UPDATE - have hatched the beast, seriously, YUCK!!!! It looks like a slug with legs!
That's disappointing! I hate it when they release ugly dragons. Does it have a "personality" at least? Personality goes a long way.
Ok, so after this little rant I went ahead and upgraded both. It used most of my gems. The only thing now is that when you breed and check your breeding time it displays the reduced breeding time instead of the normal time. So I'm having a hard time figuring out what I egg I'm getting.
Hi Kori and welcome! What a wonderful post you did, so happy that our posts have helped you in the past and really hope your post helps you get that pearl (although, couldn't even call it a mini rant really) hehe..... We are a bit like a cyber family.....but there is plenty of room for anyone who wants to join in.....so consider this an arms wide open welcome to you from us all Really hope you will consider joining in, besides it's too cold peeking in from the outside I miss the regular posters also.....where are you all MaLiesa, Alyjens, Bluangel, Archer the funny guy....I know there's more gone AWOL....you are missed (out of sight does not mean out of mind) hint, hint ....hey Yashy, nice to hear from you, been a while...plus Dmdaily, Crusty, jtfields. Just finished breeding a second quick silver, pretty egg, shame it turns out so ugly by the sounds of it....must be to win over that sea slug iceberg Will only put one on display (once I reach lvl 31 cause have no more room for metal dragons anyway) Back to trying for Forge again...will have to try a different combo cause I sure don't want a third quicksilver....did try Jazbo's combo twice, may try it again Good luck to all with your Pearls....looking forward to hearing when more of you have yours....fingers and toes are crossed for you
The only nice thing I can say about the homely looking Quicksilver is that it does have a pretty shade of blue for his tongue . LOL Well, I just threw in a water with Forge and popped up with my second quicksilver.
^ +1 here. Hatched my first and it's now hiding in my water habitat. Spends most of its time under water....suits me just fine
Breeding Times For upgraded caves Hi all, Found this on DV wiki, so thought I would post the link on here as I'm sure it will be a very handy reference tool.(now have mine added to my bookmarks) http://dragonvale.wikia.com/wiki/Breeding_Times
Thanks GP. Yep, just got there so now all relax, beer and football!! Woop, after a long walk we found a bar with free wifi, DV fix for the day [X]. Hope your all getting lucky breeding!
Enjoy your holiday! Hey guys, what combos did you use for Quicksilver? And Forge? Think I'll take a break from Pearl, or at least in one cave. Quicksilver- I think the look BS was going for is a blob of mercury. I'm impressed to read that a bunch of you regularly stockpile your gems. Wow wish I could be so thrifty and resist using them to speed breedings. Right now I'm saving for a cave upgrade - which one should I go for?
Announcement!!! Today we announce the winners of a Dragonvale "Beauty in the eye of a beer holder" contest. 3rd place - Mud Dragon When floating on water this six-legged gluttonous beast looks like a giant piece of a hippo's dung. Some say this keeps the predators away, but in reality this so-called-dragon has no natural enemies... Or friends. Can be found in various dragon parks only because it completes a set. 2nd place - Iceberg Dragon This jolly fella looks like he always smiles. That is a common miss-conception. It simply can't close it's mouth due to enormous teeth. This cruel joke of nature makes this dragon pretty pissed off at everybody it encounters. He loves sinking ships and killing wildlife with upward swipe of its head crested with a huge horn. Since this homocidal dragon is also a cleanliness freak it also eats everything it kills. This is the main reason why these dragons are morbidly obese. 1st place - Quicksilver Dragon Encouraged by success of some astronomers in de-listing Pluto as a planet, a group of dragon naturalists tried to delist Quicksilver dragon from a list of known dragons. Unsuccessfully so far. This dragon was a love child of mud and iceberg dragons. That explains the extreme ugliness of this particular breed. Some wizards suggested that a metal dragon may have been involved as well but all metal dragons vigorously denied the accusations before eating the offending wizards. This dragon is a perfect example of why developers should not drink and take drugs at work. These dragons are paid bribes to remain in the water at all times to avoid driving away visitors. Let's face it - mud and iceberg do a great job of it already. P.S.- Devs, if you are reading, WHAT THE HECK!???!!!
AHAHAHAHAAAA!!! Wonderful, eugekava! That was truely the laugh of the day. Very well written and SOOOOO true!
Brilliant work @ Eugekava.... Thank you so much mate That was oh so funny, true and so cleverly written' Please sir, can I have more?
Hi Girlpower! Awww...I was missed? Thanks! I am so ambivalent about DV right now. So discouraged-haven't gotten over not being able to breed a second Emerald (my birth stone Dragon). I know I know! At least I got one. But what can I say, I'm a bit of a brat. I have also tried everything to breed a Pearl. And still no success. Then we have all these new dragons, that I can't even breed because I'm trying so hard to get Pearl! Then there's the question of room. My hibernation cave is packed with 100 mostly high-level dragons. I've sold off most of the lower level ones to make room. I'm now to the point that I'm going to have to sell off some of my level 15's to make room for all the newer dragons. It costs a lot of money!!!! to get a dragon to level 15. And I was hoping to keep them so I could level my shrines up to 20 someday. (wow! That's a pipe dream isn't it?) I can't imagine how some of the people who couldn't get an Emerald must feel! It kind of makes me very sad and a bit angry. See? Have kind of been staying away because I'm so negative. I'm also in a bit of a time crunch lately, so it's hard to find time to even read the posts let alone post any myself. Well, back to more futile breeding. Hope that you are all having more luck than I am (and more fun).
@ Eugekava- you are too clever and funny! Thank you you've made me remember that most of the DragonVale fun comes from this forum. This is a great group of people!
