Lady luck visited me! Thank you all for sending her!! I got my 30 hr timer just before bed last night with lvl 15 snow + lvl 15 seaweed in the reg love cave. Funny because I leveled up my lvl 10 pair to lvl 11 and put them in the epic cave thinking that might do the trick. I think I will stick with this lucky pair to try and get another and start working on all the dragons I am missing. Tried for forge and got a brass. At least it is a short fail and sells for a lot. I am about half way to lvl 31. I am also wondering about working towards gold shrines. I don't like them but one of my usual lvl 15 competitors in the coliseum only got a silver yesterday. Thinking BFS is going to make winning gems a bit more difficult ?! Have a nice trip Andy...hopefully you won't go into DV withdrawal.
Congrats to everyone on your Pearl! I still haven't gotten my first yet though... I hope the levels really do not matter much, I haven't been able to get most of my shrines to turn silver yet (only my plant and fire ones are silver)... Because of Pearl I still haven't spent time on getting Forge yet, let alone Quicksilver. (sigh)

I just got mine this morning after speeding up some fails but I got mine with level 15 snow and seaweed in the EBC cave The same pair I used form the start the new ones did not help. I think it may be how many times you have breed them after a certain time seems you get one. I did the same with rainbow,sun and moon. Just use the same ones over and over it does not matter the level you will get it just takes time.
why do some of you use level 11 dragons? i only use 15 why some of you level up new pairs? first try with metal + water = 18h now i'll go for my third pearl
Some of us only use level 11 dragons because it worked out for us before. I got my only Emerald with a level 11 Lichen and a level 10 Crystal so... Another reason could be that some of us did not get all of their shrines up to silver/gold yet. I can only pair up a level 15 Seaweed with a level 10 Snow because of this reason lol! Hey, spread some luck with us Apple! I could still use some luck for my FIRST Pearl. ^^
Thanks Timeless! I hope this is the case, I haven't had a good breeding times yet with Pearl or Forge. Like some of us before me, it's getting really disappointing to see all 6-9 hour fails while seeing other people getting their second or third rare dragon already (and I think someone mentioned that he/she got 9 Pearls too?).
I know I have seen many get two are three right now I feel lucky to have one I will try for another but glad to get one. These people here are very good people if we could give other people dragons I know I would I am pretty sure they would too. It does seem unfair others get so many and some none and others only one. I wish you luck and hope you get one soon.

I've noticed some of my usual gold winners in the colosseum have only got silver recently so I've been using some different dragons and started getting gold again! I haven't got any gold shrines yet, too much effort for me!! All that food! Greedy buggers!!!
Levels don't matter. As long as they are level 7 plus. Anyone know if there is an alternate combo for pearl? Or if there was ever an alternate known for emerald? No luck for pearl so far for me with several of each of snow and seaweed types used. I only got emerald at the 11th hour after burning through 200+ gems on the last night of may.
THere are no more alternates for those to its snow /seaweed or seaweed/snow.Good luck On getting one real soon. I found that using the same dragons that you just have to use patience I am not so good at that either.
Always using the same dragons never fails me I have one of each dragon and they are all level 15 (except for rainbow, leap year, sun and moon and the gem dragons as they can only reach level 10) I always use the same dragons to breed and I've gotten every dragon released so far. I tried to get a second emerald and I couldn't but I'm happy I got one. I really think the key to this game is patience, it's taken me up to 4 weeks to get some dragons but I haven't been let down yet so good luck breeding pearl everyone! Keep trying
Tantruming (is that a word?) appears to work for me.. Used my old pair today both level 15, snow/seaweed, who I'd renamed Pearl and Lucky btw (not that I think that had anything to do with it!). 30 hr timer woohoo . For those of you wondering about buying gems giving you more success I haven't bought since the very beginning of Dragonvale and I've got every dragon except current! Awesome news hooked! Yep, good idea to stick with the same successful pair. My lvl 11,s are definitely' my lucky pair I still need Forge.....being a little elusive this one but no hurry (not limited)
Yay.....never ceases to amaze me when we finally feel the need to vent, rant, throw a wee tantrum after trying for many days/weeks....then bingo, we get our dragon....go figure, but well worth it I say Congrats....maybe a key is sticking with the same pair huh? My lucky level 11,s are awesome right now.....I have a thing about levels and still not convinced it doesn't matter.....my own opinion of course and aim sticking with it till proven otherwise for sure hehe
Just got another 24 hr timer I have never had this type of lady luck in 8 mths of playing DV My awesome wonderful brilliant lucky 11's just finished breeding pearl#2, so put them straight back into the love cave, only this time I stuck with seaweed first and low and behold another 24 hrs timer (equates to 30 hr with cave upgrade) Woot!!! Had been doing snow first previously, then as soon as I did seaweed first, bingo. Maybe a really good idea to stick with the same pair that you all got your first pearls with......really hope those of you still trying for your first pearl get one very soon, sending lady luck your way...... I unintentionally feel really greedy now....very new experience.....I would not hesitate to gift this pearl to someone who doesn't have their first, sigh, if only I could Whilst trying for forge, Im pretty sure I got the quick silver dragon....these timers are throwing me a bit cos I have to deduct the 20%, that's fine, but when the timer doesn't show what you hoped for, you gotta search the egg market to see what you may be cooking (hope that makes sense)? Anyway, just tried again for a forge and think I got another of the new dragon.... I gotta check the egg in wiki to confirm..... I used fire/rust both times....good luck to all
Wow!!! Excellent luck there GP, very pleased for you! My head hurts doing the Maths to work out what dragon I'm breeding with these upgraded caves! No disguising the fact that I just got another 48 hour timer though fed up of those! Before my unlucky 48 hr timer I got quicksilver with metal and water and forge with firefly and metal.
Gold shrines Remind me...something does happen when we achieve all gold shrines, right? Something amazingly cool, I hope?? Don't tell me what, I just need to know it will be worthwhile. I should be there in about two weeks...unless new dragons keep distracting me.
Ok, so I am lurking again. Gotta love this site. Every time I come to a standstill on the game I come here and "whammo!" someone has the answer. This is a very selfish post, so forgive me in advance. I have 2 emeralds and you guys helped me get them. I have 1 pearl and you guys helped me get her. Since then, I cannot get the 2nd pearl to save my soul. There isn't a post I haven't read, a suggestion I haven't tried. So here I am reading again and read girlpower's post about ranting a wee bit and I think "what the hail". I want it bad enough to give it a try. Again forgive me. Please know that I come here everyday and I laugh with you, I weep with you, and I wish for you. I just have a hard time posting. It is like I am invading a family because you are all so close. As for me, I decided not to get my dragons to gold. I love the silver. And I am having the time of my life displaying eggs. I am so into the design of the islands every time I see one I like, I am staying up late at night redesigning. I mean there are some seriously talented people playing this game. Ok rant done. Hey cuz, I love your post! C'mon in more often because the more input, small comments, big ones, ideas, thoughts and anything that occurs to say keeps this fun thread going. Still trying for my 2nd pearl too. Mini rants, or big rippin ones, have been known to work... or at least make one feel better. There's no right or wrong way to breed, so long as you have a good or right combo. I mean if some level combo has worked, most of us keep trying that pair. Hey it's all a shot in the dark anyway. I've tried all the pearl ideas here- been working the level 15 pair nonstop, mixed levels occassionally and level 11 pair brought me success once so have kept trying them too. It feels good, to me anyway, to alternate and mix them up instead of only the same pair/level. So whatever floats your boat!! Grats hooked/schnizler !!
