No, and it won't, since the original animation was never captured in HD (it was on laserdisc which I believe was no better than dvd quality). It will only get upscaled on the new iPad's retina display - which means it will be slightly fuzzy.

I was thinking that maybe they had originally done the animation on film before transferring it to the LaserDisc, and that for the new release they had re-scanned it to a modern video format. But if what you say is true, then it's kind of dumb they ever called it "HD" in the first place I think. Yeah, I know, in iOS land "HD" means "we didn't want to make a universal binary so here's the iPad version" but when you're talking about something from a famous film animator...
