i don't advise ppl to use walkthroughs in jrpgs... it will ruin the surprize and fun factor... we can share the stuff and ask question right here if/when someone is gettin stucked... well, if nobody will get disturb when he sees screenshots and stuff related to dq viii post by same person is all good, if someone thinks it will ruin his game experience just pm and tell and i'll go away, like i did on other game thread... 'cos i already had some issues on some other game thread just becouse i shared my opinion after 100% completing the game and the funny thing is that the main aim of my thoughs/opinion was to at least keep the game difficulty how it is and not making the game easier then it is...and some ppl blame and judge me while i've post and shared tons of screenshots and tips, most of the ss being related to the tips while those ppl had just a few posts and in most of them just blamed me...and i keept that game nr. 1 on TA hot new games top by myself with dozens of daily posts and every post had diffrent stuff related to the game... anyway, i'll keep my posts on dq viii thread as low as possible. if this comment is kinda of topic feel free to edit or delete it. i think we can share here the stuff we think can be important and/or the stuff we find and like while playin dragon quest and we can have even more fun this way edit: i play the game with one hand only and is so easy becouse of the portrait mode that you can play it even while you prepare the dinner or you do some other stuff : )
Hmm.. To my knowledge, a single person is unable to affect the 'hot game list'. Otherwise a dev could just spam their game to make it appear in the list. Not sure what you're getting at here.. Simply sharing an opinion is one thing. But if that opinion is found to be ridiculous, you're going to receive "feedback".
yes, you can if you post dozen of comments per day, most of "x" game related posts with tips and stuff will get reply from "y" and the comments will go to hundreds per day...simple math(you should first ask and inform so you can make a correct/right afirmation...). ridiculous is when ppl post suggestion to make a game easier when they only played a couple of minutes and they share tons of opinions with the aim to make the game easier when they didn't even completed the game (i don't know no devs that lissen suggestion from their beta testers if the testers can't even do the job to complete the game and see all the bad and good stuff the game has to offer), ridiculous is when ppl asking devs to add iaps so they can unlock stuff without even playing the game and when ppl think a game is hard just becouse they start their gaming experience with their first idevice but even if they are hardcore ios gamers becouse they sit all day on TA and they have hundreds of games even so they can't beat an skill based game with the difficulty mode between easy-normal were you get a character with a weapon and all you need is to move, dodge alot and attack, and they judge and blame someone just for asking the devs to increase the difficulty level or at least leave the game difficulty how it is -this is ridiculous. edit: and lets end this topic "offtopic" talk... and return to dragon quest viii related stuff. goodbye.
I too don't generally recommend walk throughs, but in a forum thread spoilers get mixed reactions, and the walk throughs answer most questions. Just finishing up the first "mission", graphics a bit stuttering on the "new ipad", but bright and colorful. Got munchie his cheese, but I never used him much on my other play throughs. He is actually supposed to be pretty good at certain times.
I play with one finger too. Controls are well done but still can be better. An option to have invisible pad in a zone or a floating pad like other Squarenix games for exemple but it's ok right now. About walk troughs I use it when I'm done with the game after the ending and tired of searching everywhere to see what things I've missed but the first time is best to have a personal experience to enjoy the game
you have the option to make the pad really tiny, look for it in settings if you didn't already tried that little pad. edit: were did you found munchie's cheese? i forgot about that...well, i just try to don't remember much from the ps2 version exp. so i can max out my fun and exp with this lovely port
Yes I have that option for the tiny pad. I think they did the controls for the iPhone and it's cool there, in the iPad is good too but not made for that platform. But I'm still glad the game is universal because I though it wasn't when released in japan at first. About the cheese you can get that in a hut at the top of the mountain near the waterfall. Talk to a man there
thank you, but i just saw that already have one cheese...just din't saw it earlier 'cos is on the second page in my items list and here are my battle records so far
Ah almost the same. And yes I just found a cheese in a jar so that should be the one you have. There are different ones
waterfall cave boss battle was a piece of cake comparing to this bad guy, so watch out when you see it(if you don't go close to him you will not fight him, he is outside the alex. town). i had a tough battle with him 'cos he does +22dmg per hit and he has some high hp. i attacked with both party members once then the next turn i defended with my wounded member and used healing with my other party member so he would't kill me in two hits...becouse i used this strategy every round the battle last a few minutes...but i defeat him without gettin any of my party member killed -_^
i know i saw the man outside the waterfall cave but i can't remember if i talked with him...becouse i play on the go and very often happens to quicksave and close the game ... maybe i've already eaten that piece of cheese... well i'll go back to check anyway : )
Ah this man is Spoiler in the top of the mountain but going for the back path, you will find a house and a man gives you a quest. It gives some cheese but maybe is not worth the trouble because you find cheese breaking jars I used skill points for boomerang but after that I'll go for sword skills, that flame slash sounds good. Nose for treasure is handy too with Yangus
have you fight bufallo bill yet? he is really tough everyone can use the skill points how they think fits best for them. for me the most important is to have fun and enjoy the time spent playing thanks4cheese info. and yangus likes to look for "treasures" in all kind of places... this portrait mode is really cool becouse all the stuff are so highly detailed : )
Yes sure, there are different strategies and is nice to choose what you want. I fought that buffalo it killed hero but Yangus killed it and 50 coins to revive him in town. It was hard but that monsters running are. Yes before playing the game I didn't like portrait view but then playing is cool because you see very high and people fits better. In iPad I wish someday they add an option to change that because sometimes will be nice to use landscape too
i was lucky to win the battle without any member gettin hit. i have some friends that don't play it on their ipad and opt to play on their iphone becouse is more handy and easy for them to play on the go this way, but they didn't played much on ipad so they couldn't tell how the game feels played on the ipad but for sure the portrait mode fits better on the iphones, maybe se devs will add more option in future updates to improve the game play for ipad users
The first day I played on iPhone all the time and is very cool because you can see all fine with portrait view and when I'm out I use that but when I can I use iPad because the screen is bigger and I like the graphics a lot. I love cel shading graphics. The best thing is the iCloud save system to change easily from one system to the other
