didn't feed him yet, i just hide it in my pocket so the bad kitty won't eat it : )

some personal talk i had with some friends that play games on their 3DS and PS VITA when ibIII came out ... i wanted to show that my iphone 5 can run some good games too ... after they saw around an hour of gameplay they asked me how long the story is and why i take the same train over and over without nothing new being discovered...and start laughing and they refreshed my memory and told me we played games with similar graphics on our n-gage phones but with days of story and new stuff and i should go buy a psp. today i show'd them, again, this beatiful game called DQ VIII and they were amazed and told me "now you can compete with bad guys like 3ds and ps vita"

Yes I had the n-gage and used to play a lot but didn't like it like the iPhone, there was not that much good games.
This one can sure compete, I have the vita too and mostly play with iOS but is not a game made for iPhone originally like Chaos ring. Still is one of the best now this DQ8. They said they will release all DQ from 1 to 8 so I expect to play them all. Just got the 7 and 8 in playstation so I have a lot to discover. And the 9 I hope one day we can have it too

Yes I defeated it with level 7 or 8. I have a progress similar to yours, near level 9, going to next town Alexandria I think it will be. Wish it have cooperative play but is fun anyway. I fear how tough the next boss will be haha

you are right, that is the next town name.
i usualy like to grind becouse i enjoy the random battles, and the level up part comes with it sooner or later 'cos most of the fights give just a couple points of exp.
about the next boss...i think i will let my pocket pet take care of it and i'll sit back, relax and enjoy the fight : ))
oh ... co-op would be crazy

in this ss are some useful info, well, probably everyone already knows it but just in case

one more note... most of the stuff you break reappears when/if you leave and re-enter the room, but if you found an item or gold in it once it will be empty the next time you break it, and if it was empty first time it will be empty the next time too

Nice info in this pictures, I didn't know.
I think the boomerang is better for that random battles because sometimes in 1 hit you defeat 3 or 4 enemies. But the sword I suppose will get stronger attacks and skills for boss fights. Soon yet to say

yeah...the stuff that pops-up again may be confusing becouse you'll start breakin stuff again

i now have sword and hammer equiped, my dmg per hit is around 15-20 and around 50-60 on critical hit -depends of the enemies type too
i can intimidate most of the enemies i run into right now and they flee and sometimes leave some items too, but remember you can't intimidate machines and zombies 'cos they have no heart and are not scared, well, probably they will attack you if you do the intimidate thing on them : ) but i like the battles and usualy i fight every enemy i run into

i'm curious how/if vii-Lucky is enjoyin the game so far

Yes and some enemies that you see running in the map leaves monster coins that can be sold or that say the description.
Will try intimidate some enemies now that you say give chests maybe something good will drop that way

i hope everyone found the "thief's key" in the first town. you have to go to the back doors from the church and climb the stairs way up and the key is in the bell... or you can buy it from one of the guy that sell stuff in town, you have to enter his shop from were he sell the stuff(behind his shop) but it ain't cheap so you better take it from the church bell if you want to spear around 600-700 gold

those enemies drop chests if you defeat them too, just check bestiary(monster list) and if an enemy you defeat it droped some stuff it will be wroten there so you can know wich enemy drops what items, if the enemy didn't drop no item it will show "???" untill they drop something

Yes I will do that when I have killed more monsters, usually I do that in RPGs to see what monsters have things I need. For now there is not much monsters to choose

Been up by the bell twice and the only action I can perform is to go down the ladder. How do you take it from inside the bell?!

I never played the hallowed PS2 original but I'm certainly enjoying this immensely on both my 5S and mini retina thanks to perfect iCloud integration.

Also the game is just awesome in portrait mode imo. So accessible to play I may actually stand a chance of finish this one! Good times!

You have to go at night. Also, it's not the key itself, but a recipe for making one once you have the alchemy pot up and running.

For those that want to 100% there are a TON of walkthroughs on GameFaqs that are very complete.

I too like to grind to a certain extent. They really do a great job with this though, because grinding by itself doesn't make everything easier - you also have to advance the weaponry, and you don't advance the weaponry without advancing the story. So grind for some fun, and if you are dying to much, but continuous grinding won't help a lot

Also, staying out at night gives you more difficult enemies. And at some point Yangus learns whistle I think that lets you call enemies to you, so you can sit in one spot and grind away!

I am wondering if people are playing one handed - fingered? I am so used to using 2 hands for everything, but these controls seem like they really wanted to make it playing one handed the desired state. Just wondering what others are doing.
