I agree. this game shouldn't be judge by his past and the miss of VA or compared to ps2 version. this is a brand new game remade for mobile phones and it deserves a 5stars rating becouse is the best game available on mobile phones. don't know any other game that can offer you a story that will keep you busy discover every stuff for months, and the game music, graphics and gameplay are simply the best a mobile gamer can have in his pocket.
Unsupported device get lags at the beginning of the game already? Or after few hours of gameplay? I'm currently downloading it for my iPod 5th wish me luck.
i played only on iphone 5 for around 6h and had no issue, it runs perfect. i can't tell about other devices but my advise is to turn off your device before start playing then turn on your device, open dq, have fun and be amazed -_^
Thank you, this is actually my first time playing this game and i'm so hype because many people are giving it great impressions
if you played other jrpgs too you should be fine. just make sure to explore 100% of every location becouse you can easy miss some stuff or hidden things, talk to every person you meet, try to save v often, specially on worldmap, use your quicksave often before you enter into new location, and everytime you run into enemies that gives more exp then usual battles you encounter you should stay in that area at least untill you gain acouple of levels, this will help you alot on long way becouse you'll have easier fights with new and stronger enemies. goodluck and have fun
@vii-Lucky Will be even more amazing because everything will be new to you. I played it before and still having a great time because it was a long time ago but the first time is better. I was defeated on the boss of the first cave, I was leveling a little bit and I even went to the village to buy herbs but had bad luck with the boss curse and can't use psychic up. But next time I will try with one more level and surely will win. Is not a difficult game but a great and interesting challenge
for me, this legit port of dq viii feels even better then the ps2 version i played years ago : ) what level are you? i'm level 8 atm, i spent more time exploring...and i'm really enjoyin how the game feels and see in the portrait mode
Can anyone comment on how saving the game works? are there specific save areas? or can you save anywhere, anytime? or is there an auto save system? i'm asking because it is quite important for when the game gets interrupted by a call or when you need to quit ASAP like when playing on a bus or something then return to the game after a couple of minutes
Yes for me too is a better experience now in iOS. The music is not from the orchestra but is the awesome DQ music and sounds amazing. I have level 6 but will try the first boss with 7 or 8 and try to explore all I can. I usually get very distracted exploring all things and hours pass fast in places that are not meant to stay that long but in this game can be good to get chests and experience. @Edmilan you can save in towns in churchs but the best option is the quick save from the menu that you can use in dungeon or everywhere. I tried to close the game and not auto saves like other Final Fantasy ports but you can attend calls and return to game because it remains open. I don't think you will have problems for that reason and is possible to save often to not lose anything
Great. Many thanks for that. I'm inclined to buy it only want to know how is it on an ipad. Is it enjoyable on an ipad?
If you like JRPG with turn combats and random battles is totally worth to play it on iPad. I tried now in mi Air and the frame rate don't feel fluid, same thing happened to me in FF6. If you hate that kind of things then you will have a bad experience here. For me is not a problem to enjoy the game, I still hope they improve this but is not an action game and is not that noticeable if you don't fix your attention usually. The bigger screen of the iPad and the stereo sound make it a best option than the iPhone but in ipad it has 2 little black bars in the sides to adapt the resolution. In resume, frame rate not perfect but game worth it for RPG fans
Sounds really fun. I really enjoy JRPGs by SQ since they are really challenging and they have amazing plot.
@Shinto this is the first boss you were talkin about? just run into him but didn't fight him yet (if you answer no at his question you'll not fight him and you can explore some more and do more battles in the cave untill you level up enough) @vii-Lucky some friends have both ipad and iphone and they said only played a little on the ipad(didn't had no big issues) but they opt to play on iphone becouse is easier for them to play on the go this way...dunno what kind of ipad they have 'cos i'm not interested in those devices and i really can't tell wich is what model no i go to grind some battles so i can gain a couple more levels untill i go and face the waterfall cave boss, he is really funny but i gotta take that crystal ball from him : )
Not everything is fully translated so it seems can anybody explain to me what this ability/attack does? Because I can't seem to use this one in battle (and yes I think I have enough MP) Edit: not on this screenshot but later on when I did have mp I still couldn't use it
This game actually runs pretty well on iPod 5th after arriving at the village. ( will it lag later on?) What would be the original name of the Main character? I want to use his instead of mine.
I played the US version. Still play it once a year because the story is that good to me. The reason I revisit that game yearly is the VA. It actually elevated the story to a level that not having it doesn't even begin to touch. The funny part is I never even realized how important that part really was until I bought this copy of the game. I didn't state the game was crap to dissuade others from playing it. I was simply offering up my experience, in my reality, given my intense love for the actual game. Perhaps I should have gushed on about how awesome the story actually is, how awesome Akira Toriyama's art looked for the first time in the series in this version, or how adding the sub skills was a really cool twist to the usual DQ leveling grind. Also, not that it's really needed but capturing monsters is fun. All these things do make this a solid RPG that any fan of the genre should play, especially if you didn't play the PS2 version. I also didn't low star it for the same reasons, but for me it's a crsppy version of a game I love. As I said earlier, when you step back and look at what Enix is doing on "traditional" gaming platforms and compare it with their iOS wares they come off as being schills. But hey, let's all not buy a game from a one man dev because it doesn't have Game Center support, at the same time giving a multi-million dollar company a free pass on a lame port of a great game that seems to have intermittent graphical issues because as a multi-million dollar company it's somehow slipped their minds to learn an extremely common programming language that's 9 years old. It's just craziness here.
