A few questions.. Are there random battles?
Is there a map or quest logs and is there a map pin of what to do next?

I've got a 64GB 5S, but it's been full since I've got it. Sure wish there was the 128GB option when I got this! Then I could fill that one full of more than just games. ;)

Yes to random battles and a map. No to quest logs and map pins. It's a pretty linear game, though.

This was truly For me the most expected rpg since last year, always felt in love with FFV that could be similar in some ways to DQV,..now playing DQV just gives me the same feeling as the first time I played FFV. Thanks Square Enix for making us have this honor

I am stupidly tempted on getting this. I missed out on getting a copy of this for my DS at the time. My favorite Dragon Quest games are Dragon Warrior III on the GBC, Dragon Quest VIII on the PS2, and IX on the DS. Price is a bit high but still cheaper than an used DS copy.

Well, Zelda is an action-adventure game, and this is pretty much a straight-up JRPG. So, think Final Fantasy, Lunar, or even Pokemon more so than Zelda. It has random encounters that lead to turn-based battles, dungeons to explore with treasures and bosses, and a monster-catching mechanic that probably can be partially credited with inspiring the whole craze.

My first run through this version of the game took
    33 hours
(spoilered in case someone doesn't want to know how long it is) on the game clock.

Of course it is. But if you don't like RPGs don't start with the first one! Start with V or III maybe.

Probably start with a Final FantAsy one, or if it is first time, go first with DQ IV or V

    It's a turn-based JRPG, so it's not really like Zelda. It's a 30+ hour game I'd say.

They've said before that they don't want to retranslate DQVII because it has too much text. Depressing. :( we will have VI at least tho, probably a couple months after Japan gets it.

I'm still holding out hope that we can get it. The PSX discs of DQ VII aren't too big in file size, so with enough time they could translate the game and port it if they have enough demand. So, hopefully, the DQ V and VI will sell like crazy. (Fingers crossed.)

If you are going to give it a shot for real for the first time to a classic jrpg , believe me , start with Final Fantasy V, is the dream rpg
