DQ2 is my least favorite of the series to replay because of its lousy pacing in the back end. DQ3 is a much, much better game.
Can't wait for DQ V... playing DQ4 right now..... is DQ 4> DQ3? or is it something different altogether? battle system story etc?
DQ3 is better than 4. I really like the unique question system at the beggining. And I think that DQ3 on GBC was the best version of this game, ever. Just look at this minimal pixel art style. I can't say how much I love it guys.
Haha, this one is quite the debate in fan circles. DQ4 does this stuff better: story, characters, extra things to do DQ3 does this stuff better: character customization, world design DQ3 and DQ4 do these things mostly the same: battles, pacing, dungeons, bosses, exploration DQ4 basically completely cut the ability to customize your party members in favor of named characters of each job type for the sake of telling a more detailed story. I enjoyed my first play of DQ4 more and consider it the better game, but I enjoy replaying DQ3 more. I hope that helps.
whoa that's very helpful Shaun i think i'll stick with DQ 4 for the moment maybe buy DQ VIII after i finished it or if it goes on sale for Xmas i'm more of a story guy though but those graphics in DQ 3 is indeed looks great from the video impression few post above it's very different when you're an adult i used to finished FF VII couple of times >100 hours / playthrough when i was a kid but now i barely can play, work...work work..... Sigh...
Both 3 and 4 are great games. I just finished up most of the content in 4 so 3 came out at just the right time.
No mini medals and $10 make this a joke. Favorite game of the series with the snes music (game boy color music was awful). Was hoping they would add a class rather than recycle them for "customization" but they would prefer to give less content and charge more. Ruined forever, no thank you square Enix. Will stick to dragon quest ix that has real customization.
Lovely little summary thank you very much. I love 4 for those very reasons but I'm not sure how much I'm going to get on with 3 in that case. It's personal choice but I've never been a fan of character customisation in an RPG (tho as long as I can ignore it and it's not 'forced' on me I can get on with it). Having said that I know I'll end up buying it when I've either had enough of 2 or I finish it.....
This was exactly the motivation I needed to finish DQII. ESPECIALLY with all this talk of party customization. I'm kicking myself for not beating it sooner, but I wasn't expecting a surprise release.
yeah they're too lazy on it i heard that square just release a PS4 exclusive FF VII PORT.... yeah not a remaster bu t a port... why they don't release it on mobile platform is a big question mark.... and gimme DQ IX please LOL
Pretty sure it's been on the PSN store for PS3 for a while. I've already bought FF IX on there. Might get the others too. And, YES! I want to see a DQ IX port. But as long as it's on that Nintendo DS console, who knows if they have the ability to port it for a few more years. I'd be happy for DQ V soon though.
So, is my interpretation of the job system pretty much correct that there is very little benefit to starting physical and going magical later?
I think it's somewhere in the ocean above the Bering Strait. I hope that makes some sense to you since the map looks kind of like our actual planet. There's a rock formation that the vase should be used at the bottom of that looks like this: OOXOO OXXXO OXXXO The Xs are the rocks and the Os are the surrounding water.
