So far, I've only ever played I, IV, and VIII. VIII is by far my favorite. But for the 2D games, I'd recommend starting with I just so you can see the series' beginnings. It should be a quick play through. There's only one guy in your "party" and it's kind of simple. IV was great looking but a little different because you're playing 4 different short stories until they all come together for the last long chapter I think. But it looks and plays amazing. Great stories so far in my opinion. So, I guess I'd recommend I or get I and IV and compare them.
Me neither. But I still need to finish DQ I. Takes a lot longer when I split my time between so many games!
So far I'm only 50 or so hours into DQ VIII and I love it. So, I'd highly recommend playing that if you have the time to invest. DQ I is much shorter and simpler, so if you'd like to see the origins and how far it's come, I'd recommend having both on your device. Plus, DQ I is cheap and a small file!
Bought DQ I. So far, for now, i love it. Maybe i'll buy DQ II after i finish this one. I'm not interested at all for 3D RPG games on iOS.
Sad. Japanese gamers don't care? Maybe no one here cares either but me. I keep trying to add this to my wish list so I'll be able to find it as soon as it's out. Hehe. The App Store search function never seems to work for a while.
Does anyone know, is Square Enix ever going to put the DQ soundtracks on iTunes? Many of their games are on there. The orchestra versions of 1-3 are incredible! So glad they went with them for the ios releases. Yeah I don't know how people manage to play some of these games. Battery cases or frequent charging or staying home or staying plugged in I guess.
Oh, they care. The problem is that they don't care enough to not buy them anyway, so Square doesn't care so much. That said, DQ3 is fixed, so the complaints weren't completely for naught.
short bursts to level up here and there help. it breaks up the grind of getting to a high level so when you do sit down to play you can blast through the normally tough parts.
In order chronologically its DQ3, DQ1, and DQ2! Already beat DQ1 and now deciding either DQ2 or wait for DQ3 next month which is the prequel the edrick saga.
I'm a big fan of the release order since the game complexity and length grows as they were released. ... And to the person that said to grind during non serious game time... I recommend the same thing. But I'm a major fan of grinding in these games to get a little over powered before getting tot he next boss or area or whatever. It makes progress during serious game time a little speedier. That's how I played the GBC/DS versions.
Anybody else not getting any sound effects in battle? What's going on? The music sounds freaking amazing tho. Still hate the localization (thou hast ruined Yuji Hori's script) and the weird scaled sprites, but who cares? It's Dragon Quest II!
DQ3 could be a fair $6.99. DQ1 is $2.99 and DQ2 is $2 dollers more at $4.99. I wouldn't be surprised if they up the price by 2 from DQ2 $4.99 to DQ3 $6.99.
