Sorry I've been slacking on the blog posts! We did just post a video showing the update: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l0R5ByzX7U That was a PS3 capture to test out our new, well, capture setup to get footage directly on systems instead of through screen-capturing, but the visuals/audio is valid for iOS as well!
Whoa. That's a huge price increase... $2.99-7.99? Is that right? Does that mean we can expect an update at midnight tonight?
Hasn't happened. That IS quite a hike. I guess it's based around interest in the sequel, which seems to be getting more press than this ever did.
Dammit had this game on my watchlist from the beginning but totally forgot about it, should have bought it from start. If they do a big update and keep this price range I don't think I will be getting it soon though.
Yeah, they must not be hoping to get many sales on iOS. I bet $7.99 is the price across all platforms when their new version of 8-bit and 32-bit DF comes out. It's just that this price will be hard to convince newcomers to swallow. I personally would pay twice as much, but its my cup of tea. But if it wasn't, then I can understand not wanting to buy it.
$7.99 is the price for the PS3/PS Vita versions (think the functionality of Universal apps) through their subscription service; otherwise, it's $9.99. Finally released there yesterday, and I'll prolly nab it with a "cash"-back promotion from last month. Between it on home console and FF Dimensions on handheld, I should be good on classic-style JRPGing for a bit. I'll still keep my eye out for an iOS sale, though, which leads to a question: Will (or have?) the PSN trophies be implemented in Game Center?
Ooooh. I hadn't even thought about Gamecenter. Man, when that iOS update hits I'd make myself start all over if there are GC achievements to get!
"New dungeons," huh? Been some time since I blew through the PSN version, but I'm not sure how many of those screenshots I've forgotten as opposed to never knowing to start. How much of this update is new-to-all, and if the answer's in the affirmative, will the PSN version be seeing it? (BTW: Still appreciate the screen size adjustment option patched in.)
Yeah, this update is gorgeous! Very excited to search around and find these new dungeons. Might have to start all over to find them? Anyway, I am very thankful they finally rolled it out on the App Store. Also, love the music. Now I'll have more to do before eventually getting Book II. Just curious, though, why aren't there any windows in any buildings in the first chapter?
I found this to be very enjoyable, and I had this from a good while back. This update was something I did not expect, and it's cool they added Gamecenter support.
So I really want to try this. But it's $7.99. It's been $2.99 for the majority of it's existence. Then, in April 2013 it shot up to $7.99. I wanna buy FF 4 on sale for the same price but damn, I'm stuck. So I beg the question.. Is this game worth the $7.99 price?
HA! I've been contemplating the same issue. Considering FF4 is on sale though I'm leaning towards grabbing it now.
Exactly! Tough decision indeed! I'm thinking the same thing, that FF4 is on sale and this isn't. Still, some how this game is whispering my name, "Scot, you know you want to download and play me." Haha That said, I know I may never play through FF4 on my iphone, it being such a deep and long game, which points me towards Dragon Fantasy and it's native nature. I know, the world has bigger problems than this.
In all honesty, it doesn't matter as much which one I buy simply because I'll simply be adding to the collection/backlog for now which has me leaning towards FF:IV on sale or just waiting till later. I have so many RPG's to play through before I'd ever get to either one. Heck Guardian Saga still sits on my iPhone waiting for my attention and it's more akin Dragon Quest than either of these games and DQ is by far my favorite RPG series.
I think I completed Guardian Saga in about three hours. Honestly, I think that DF captures the essence of the first DQ game at least as well as GS does. DF looks the most like it in the 8-bit graphics setting, for one thing, and chapter 1 and 3 are each as long as GS is in its entirety.
