Just found out yesterday that EA has released a version of Dragon Age: Origins for the Mac. I'm sure that some Mac people have already been playing it through Bootcamp, but as someone who doesn't want to dedicate 50 GB of my hard drive to a Windows partion (as well as spend $100+ on a copy of Windows), this is welcome news indeed. I'm assuming it's a Cider-port (since it came so quickly), so there might be a few kinks left to iron out in this version. I'm in the process of downloading it now (9 Gb!) and will report on performance, graphics, etc.
Apparently nobody gives a crap about this, but I said I would report, and so her we go. The game runs beautifully on my MacBook Pro 2.54 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. As far as I can tell, this is the exact same game that was released on PCs earlier in the year (which, according to GameSpot, is better than the console versions).
Woah, Dragon Age? I am indeed intrigued. ... oh yeah, I remember seeing this on GameTreeOnline. I might pick it up later on, when my game has become a huge hit and I'm reveling in the Jacksons and Grants.
I hear you -- it's not cheap. Then again, I don't have a home console and been staying away from new releases on my PSP. Considering the amount (and quality) of gameplay involved, I would say it's worth it. My main concern was the quality of the port, and I can report that, after 1 hour+ of gaming, it seems excellent.
If I had known, I would have waited for this instead getting the ps3 version. I really would prefer to play this on a computer.
Well, Bioshock is out as well, but that one tougher to justify considering how cheap the PC version goes for these days. The good news is that Dragon Age is a Transgaming Cider port, which basically means that it was fairly quick and cheap to make (compared with a standard port). Some of the early Cider games were apparently pretty buggy, but so far DA is working great. If that's holds up, it bodes well for the possibility of other premium-game ports in the future.
I seriously don't know how anyone can play this game on a console without a mouse and the zoomed out tactical view. I watched a friend play this on the 360 and it was painful.
I play it on my PC and I don't really use the zoomed out view, I prefer to go with the third person view and pause to plan the next move with all the characters.
Lol, I cope but it is harder. My Uncle works at EA, so he's getting me this game (he is some sort of market research person, so I have to tell him the pros and cons specifically)
Yeah, I can cope with it but I think I'll prefer having the tactical overview option. Right now, I just tweak the AI script actions. It works for me but it is quite chaotic.
