Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel had my doubts for a few days before I bought. But I really like, super high pace, spot on controls, lot's of different enemies, nice learning curve.
Hah beat the game in my last run on stream (esty8nine) if someone needs help and wants to watch the last broadcast. Amazing game, cute ending. Can't wait to beat hard mode tomorrow. =] !!
Some comments on the controls remind me of people having the same issue with The Blocks Cometh, which was an ascender rather than descender that played in Portrait. They eventually released an update with an option to play in Landscape--the play area was smaller on screen but the controls were more comfortable for a lot of people. Trade-off. Maybe the developers will consider adding this feature to Downwell if it does well and there's enough demand.
well I had to buy this on PC because arseholes missed out the ipad mini. But what a game. Game of the week/month for sure.
Was coming here to confirm there's an ending. Lots of interesting things on Polygon. Didn't know there's wall jumping http://www.polygon.com/2015/10/16/9550205/downwell-is-the-best-game-ive-played-in-2015 (I hope there's no problem linking to other sites, but if so please remove mods, and I apologize in advance).
Nice article. It has great links too, like Cara Ellison's "EMBED WITHÂ… OJIRO FUMOTO" that in turn leads to the first of two articles she wrote for The Guardian on the indie scene in Japan.
Question. What are the 4 separate bars below the health meter? They fill up but I have no idea why. Lol.
I've been playing on my iPhone 6 the whole time and haven't come across any "major" control issues. I guess I didn't even think of trying it on my iPad. I keep forgetting I have the thing. I need to get used to playing on the iPad. I'm sure the game is probably easier to control on it. I'll give it a shot
Ok you fiends have convinced me to get this. Let's see what the hub bub is about...bub. Ok so how do I configure the buttons to work with iPad mini 4? My buttons are in the middle of the screen as opposed to off to the sides where I can actually reach them. Ok so I guess it's just not updated yet to work with mini 4. Oh well. I'll wait to play after an update I suppose.
I hate to be a parade-rainer but the "Maglor" you saw in that post is actually just some dude who only a few posts back said that he simply took Maglor's name.
Damn... This game is truly great. The controls are fine on iPhone 6 but they are really smooth on Ipad. This is for this kind of games that I like AppStore. Thanks guys.
Nope, not endless, and if you don't quitt early on this difficult, challenging and immense intense cool gameplay, then the replay value shots up sky-high, imo. Every pixel, and i mean every last little pixel is well thought out and always on the players side. Not one death was the design's fault, ever. Hope this helps me to get further and better.
