FINALLY! Finished the game on hard mode. Only took a few weeks of relentless trying.

Here's some tips: knowing which power ups are most useful Is key. COMBOS! Get combos to build your hearts and shot count. You should have at least six hearts before getting to the boss level.

It's worth getting excited about, as it's a super game. But seriously, just get it for your phone. Or both.

Already have it for the phone. Got it when it came out. I'm excited to play with physical buttons. #

I just discovered that this is available for the PS4, priced at $4.99. I still haven't picked this game up yet, and now I'm wondering which version would be best to get. Any suggestions?

I've read that physical controls make a huge difference so I'd go with the console version.

Well, physical controls are better, but touch controls, here, are not bad.
MFi support is there, but it is useless with my Gamevice. :(
If only I could customize the d-pad...

I'd pay $20 for an Xbox One version. Love this game still. I was mostly playing on iPad mini 2 at first so I could use my Mad Catz but it's a little tight for iPhone 6 virtual controls.

I was honestly surprised that the PS4/Vita version was only $4.99. Think they could have at least gotten away with $10 (especially seeing what some of the ports of crappier mobile games are charging).

FYI. Polygon features Downwell developer making a Mario Maker level:

    Bump.

I’m assuming it’s dead, but for a while there the developer was toying around with a palette editor. Has anyone heard anything about this? Normally an editor wouldn’t matter too much, but with Downwell there is such an emphasis on the palettes that it could be pretty cool. Heck, I’d even take a continuation of the palettes past the 500,000 mark.

Thanks to the recent sale, I've bought or downloaded a bunch of games, and this is among the best. Instantly addictive. Love the complexity disguised as simplicity.

Controller support was added with today’s update!

I’m not sure how you attach a phone to a controller in portrait orientation but it must be possible. Love this so much I bought it on iOS and Switch. And no matter how long I go without playing, I’m thrilled every time I come back to it.

If for some reason you’ve never played this gem, now’s the time to check it out!

Other controllers that don’t have to physically attach to the phone I guess, such as PS4 controller.

The latest update also brings the support for landscape orientation so you can play it with “attached” controllers as well, FYI.

    Nice, thanks for the heads-up!

I remember the controls (in portrait) feeling a little close together, but I got used to them fairly quickly. Then, the Switch version released for a measly $2.99 so I grabbed that day one. It plays great docked on the big TV screen or in TATE with the Flip Grip. I haven’t really returned to the mobile version much in the last year or so but it’s still on my phone.

Still, this update came out of nowhere which is always exciting, so hopefully those that didn’t get on well with the controls the first time will give it another shot.

While landscape sounds nice, it’s kind of not playable on a phone device. Just checked on my Xs Max and it’s rediculous.
