To be honest, this just makes me want to pull out my Gameboy and play Double Dragon. Shame I don't have my Gameboy anymore. :/ *loads ROM* >_>

It would be nice if this POS would recognize my button taps. It seems to miss like 99% of them. It's a shame too because this could have been a good game. In it's current state though it's not even worth a price tag of free.

Played it for a bit, and like everyone said, the controls are not that great. That aside, it's actually fun to try to complete all the achievements. Sadly, they don't sync to my Game Center, which is quite sad, to be honest. 57 achievements that don't get synced :/.

Don't think I'll be touching it again unless the controls are fixed, quite a fun game for someone who is pretty young (18) and has not played the arcade version of this before.

Hope the controls get fixed though, and the achievements to sync.

EDIT: Just found out the non-syncing Game Center achievements is due to Game Center being down.
    EDIT2: Nope, still not syncing.

After playing it for a week now, I'm not as let down as I initially was.
All of the original gripes stand and everyone is right in their comments,
but after taking a step back, I realize it really has a "polished" feel to it.
It's not perfect or how we all wanted to see the game done,
but in the end, I'm sure we all know: It could've been much worse...

I don't regret the purchase, but will admit the gripes might be less
noticeable if it were at least $1 cheaper. Have a good day all!

I can't say I regret the purchase either. The controls aren't the best I've ever used, but they are managable.

I can't say whether the game was worth the money I spent because honestly, I don't remember how much it cost me. If it was under $5, I'd say it is well worth it.

I'd be all over an authentic, Revolutionary Concepts style port of Double Dragon arcade, it's underated arcade sequel, Double Dragon 2, or better yet Kunio Kun/Renegade, Technos's precursor to Double Dragon (which had worse graphics but better gameplay). I can get used to the controls, but to see this classic drained of its nostalgic juices just leaves me feeling numb.

Revolutionary Concepts is really shining on iOs, I wish others would take note.
Renegade, The Combatribes and some others are great Technos mentions,
but let's be fair here. Technos first hand DESTROYED the Double Dragon
franchise themselves... Let me remind everyone of this arcade wonder:

Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn0K1s8AjrQ

After seeing this video, I say again: I think it could've been much worse...

Argh! I'd blocked the abomination known as Double Dragon 3 from my memory! It never took off in US arcades (and for good reason).

    Some interesting trivia:

The much better Combatribes came out in the same year as DD3.

DD3 (US version) is one of the first arcade games to feature an "in app purchase" where you could buy powerups.

    Agree with you !!!

But this game is also good. If you want another beat'em all well polished at one buck get 64th Street !

Nice find! Thanks for posting that!

Jaleco's 64th St. on ios, literally IS the arcade ROM!
    (Note the "Insert Coin" flashing)

    Arcade version:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwpOU653cjw
    iOs version:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fq7bxWuRfyM

Now people are going to be REALLY bent DD wasn't ported as the arcade
version/or at least with the option...

Since more people are coming to this thread thanks to the frontpage coverage (and probably wont look through previous pages) I feel I should restate some things.
This game is a remake/sequel to the Zeebo Double Dragon game, which was entirely original. It is unfortunate that it is not a port of the original arcade game, but in this case it isn't an option for the developer.

I for one am happy this isn't a straight port. There is a lot of content that makes it worth playing, particularly for fans of beat-em-ups in general (large repertoire of moves, extra characters). Shame about HUD and controls though.
If you were to compare it to 64th Street, yes that game is a perfect port of the arcade version. However, that may not always be the best option.

For general game tips and strategies for playing as the bonus characters (the main reason I play this game) you should check a little FAQ I made here.

To unlock all characters, beat story mode 6 times. Difficulty does not matter.

Are there any leaderboards for this game? Mine says "Unable to Load". Also, achievements are not unlocking. Anyone facing similar problems? :O

    Same :(

Thought I'd add - really enjoying it - the controls are pretty bad, but the sounds are so satisfying (smack biff :) )

Now that's an okay price. I'm buying it now. Let's see if it's worth it. ATM the one I enjoy the most is Capcom's Final Fight, but that's a 100% arcade port. I hope DD has more content :)

Hey guys, i only just noticed that DD's been updated- now you can set the UI to be transparent and the game is compatible with OS 3.1.3 onwards (used to be only OS4+). Updating now!
