Downloading now, so I'll give impressions aftera section or two of gameplay. It's definetly going to be good, since I really enjoyed Wolfensten RPG (used that to kill a ton of time while helping my grandfather build a fence and there was nothing I could help with... tons of gameplay). It looks as updated as WolfRPG was on the iPhone, so I'm really looking forward to giving impressions. Different characters, better graphics... it's killing me waiting for the download to finish...

Played through the first level. This game is pure nails. So far even better than Wolf RPG...it has more content already, plus it's HILARIOUS. I've been laughing through the whole first level. Looting corpses and finding things like human fingers, pocket lint, etc. Priceless.

Awesome, sounds just like the cell phone version! With updated graphics of course... crap, this is gonna be sick!

Impressions in a few... stupid downloading time and losing my iPod for a few...

Great game so far. Pretty fun, sad I have yet to get the shotgun though! I liked WolfRPG better though, idk why, but this is a great game. Definite recommendation from me.

No, we missed out on Wolfenstein 1.3 which added 25 new levels.

Guess this answers the whole "which id game is going out next?" question

That, my friend, is a never ending question. Speaking of which...Which id game do you guys think is going to come out next? Quake or Doom 2 DLC for Classic?

My money is on the Doom 2 DLC, but heck, it was on the Doom 2 DLC before this came out of the blue and kicked us in the sack, so at this point, who knows.

Instabuy for me. I absolutely loved Wolfenstein RPG. I think it worked much better for the Iphone than traditional shooters do. Even shooters will really good controls for the Iphone end up causing me problems.

    Game Impressions

    Alright, impression time...

I'm loving this. It's pretty much the updated Wolfenstein RPG we got in Summer '09, but put to a Doom theme. It's the exact same game, story and gameplay wise, as the J2ME game, but that's definetly a good thing. If you've played WolfRPG, you know exactly what you're getting. A really fun Turn Based First Person RPG game. With demons, zombies, other monsters, and chainsaws. There seems to be a good variety of weapons. You start the game with the assualt rifle, which fires 2 shots per turn, rather than the handgun style weapon that you started with in WolfRPG. And to make the game even more fun, you get a chainsaw almost immediately, which acts as your fists, which for some reason you can't use. It doesn't affect gameplay that you can't use your fists in combat, as the chainsaw would be stealing all the attention anyway.

Compared to WolfRPG, this game seems to be more in-depth from the beginning. From the start, you get to choose from 3 characters: Major (the military girl), Scientist (self-explanatory), And Marine (The Doom Guy we all know). I've only used the Marine so far, but there are plenty of stats to be upgraded. It seems like the potion system is still in place, although I've had no experience with it yet. I havn't been able to level up so far, but if it is based on WolfRPG's scale, it shouldn't feel like you have to level grind, nor will it feel like you're leveling up too quickly. The combat system is still a ton of fun, and it doesn't feel like a mindless "hit button, move out of the way of attack, hit button again" type of game at all, and brings a nice break from the typical action-oriented shooter that most are familiar with. This game, compared to WolfRPG, is much bloodier and violent, while retaining that same sense of humor. Instead of just dying, the corpses are ripped open, but in a cartoony way. It's something like you would see in a cartoon, not gross at all, but definetly not for little kids. You can also slice up the bodies with the chainsaw, which is surprisingly fun. Just make sure you loot them first, or else you'll lose what they were carrying. It has that same sort of sick humor that WolfRPG had, and it works great. For example, you'll be looting bodies and getting items such as Pocket Lint, or Demonic Dandruff. I havn't seen much of the story, but it seems like the kind of game where it could be cool if you want to pay attention to it, but can completely ignore it and just play through the game, killing all the monsters and getting the weapons as you want, more or less like a GTA game.

So, should you buy this game? If you enjoy Turn Based Strategy games, RPG's, or the Doom universe, you should definetly check this out. If you enjoyed WolfRPG, this is a must-have. If you hated it, skip this one. If you were on the fence, you may want to wait for a price drop to pick this one up.

I've got Doom Classic, Wolfenstein 3-D, Wolfenstein RPG, and Doom Resurrection already, and I have barely touched them except for Wolfenstein 3-D and Doom Resurrection. The sheer number of great titles being released in the app store on a weekly basis is just overwhelming. It makes my head spin. There is no telling how many great games that I don't even have a chance to even look at.

I agree completely. This game is going to be so much better than WolfRPG when I get more in-depth. Even in my impressions, I was quite, well, impressed at how big of an update they made between the J2ME version I have on my phone and the App version. That was worth buying it for alone. I'll get more game time after I finish my homework, which I luckily didn't get too much of tonight.

WolfRPG is awesome, if this is better in any way it's a no-brainer.

Is this better than Wolfenstein RPG? That game was fun but got bored after a few days.

Is the title set right? For the icon, not like "Wolf...RPG." I'm a little picky on that

No brainer. Buy it. Now. Trust me, it's pretty much an updated WolfRPG.

Well, there's some improvements, but overall, it's a lot like WolfRPG. You may want to wait on a price drop.

As for the title, it says "Doom2rpg" Exactly. No ... in the middle. And the icon is exactly what you see in the appinfo on the first page.

    Thanks.

Just got it. I think I was bored of WolfRPG because of the driving scene. I hope it's not in this game. I do like the Doom series better than the Wolfenstein series..

Yeah, good choice. This is better than WolfRPG, and as far as I can tell, there's no driving scene. It was fun at first, but after having to replay that scene several times, it really got annoying.

I havn't either. This is a totally different game, so even if you havn't beaten that, if you enjoyed it, get this game.
