I just hope it that t is only temporary and the games will be restored. But it's strange to see it gone from Hidden Purchases.
Update September 14 Bethesda has just re-released/relaunched DOOM and DOOM II with new updates. Whew! Both games are now back in my Hidden Purchases.
Before I didn’t have the control buttons taking up my screen. I just updated both Doom and Doom 2- now I have it. Thought this was fixed and sorry I updated
Are you sure you’re on 2.9.6 for DOOM? You might have downloaded 2.9.5 by mistake. The controls are fine for me now. Still in the process of downloading DOOM 2, but I’d imagine they’re the same. Edit: DOOM II’s fine too.
Following up on what the idiot above me said, if you're referring to the new control scheme that has virtual buttons for shooting, opening doors, etc. (compared to the previous control scheme that just had an invisible shoot button and joystick [until pressed], iirc), then you're out of luck. The controls have entirely been revamped (for the better...the game went from "Oh cool, I have DOOM on my phone" to "Oh cool, I can actually PLAY DOOM on my phone). Just in case: I really am metalcasket.
I did download the correct versions. I am referring to the controls being in the field of view and no way to lighten them. With that said, the controls are much better. Should have explained that more in my original post.
Oh jeez, guess that joke didn't come across correctly. I post with this account when I can't access my main account (a combo of two factor authentication, needing my password manager and using a device that isn't mine) and was just being silly by calling myself an idiot...since y'know...jokes. I guess you didn't see the "Just in case" at the bottom of that post and/or my signature.
Update September 16 I am really liking the new layout for the controls. For me anyways... it is way easier to use and feels much more natural. The games run perfectly on my iPad mini 5 running iPadOS 14.
