I have it on my Wiz (you know, the one with real buttons) so I can wait. Still, I will buy it for my iPhone when it is ready.
If you don't have a dev license you can get the same version if your phone is jailbroken. Has the same terrible controls... but yeah I guess it's playable.
Didn't ID said that doom would be finished by the end of this month? They have only got a few days left ;P it's taking forever, I think they should stop making promises and finish the game!
couldnt agree more. this is a bit of a joke now isnt it? for god's sake the game has already been done for years and the control was already done and really good with wolf3d. multiplayer would be great but not needed for initial release...
I feel that if a developer announces a game to get hype that is one thing, but once dates have been set and broken for a release they need to give a little more frequent updates on their web site. At this point with all the delays it will not live up to peoples hopes and could easily flop. Prime example of to long a wait would be Guns n Roses and their Chinese Democracy. Not a bad album but certainly did not live up to 10 years of hype. I think if they release what they have now, as long as it's functional, any update could only make it better and you could get real customer responses about what they want. I mean the website still says it will be released in June.
this is relatively typical though of id... delays... similar to Blizzard who are notorious for late arrivals (werent diablo and starcraft both over a year late?).. I wonder if the true holdup here, is maybe they are slyly setting up a massive multiplayer network? or possibly this is way too optimistic?
they announced starcraft II in like 2004 i think. it was supposed to be like a third person shooter but then they just dropped the concept completely and almost forgot about starcraft II
you mean starcraft ghost... starcraft two has been in development for a year now, and they said theyre looking for a 2010 release.
its funny how people always whine about how they cant wait or worse they complain when developer doesnt meet the announced release date. but when there is a game that comes out on time and all buggy with choppy framerates due to sloppy coding then they complain about how the developer should have put more work into it. i think we should let carmack take his time. he is probably aware that so many people are eagerly anticipating this game (unless he lives under a rock) so i dont think it would do any good to remind him. i just hope the game comes out sometime during my lifetime so i get a chance to play it even it come out thirty years from now i think i can accept that hopefully i dunno
it's been in developement for well over a year. in fact, they announced it over two years ago with a short video of in game graphics. apparently it's been in developement since 2003 with a one year break to help with WoWrolleyes
Your right lol they did announce it two years ago (my bad) but hey, i dont mind waiting, the game looks good and time flies when you have an iPod lol. (its been two years since that was announced, seems like one). and they started deving this at 2005
I just wish that there was some better communication with the developer(s) and the loads of people waiting for Doom Classic's release. Something as simple as a Twitter account we can all follow for updates. I just want to know where they are at this point... coding done? Still working out bugs? Working on in-app purchases for more levels at launch? Submitted to Apple last week? Submitted and got rejected? Any news is better than no news if you ask me. Oh well.
Eh just knowing that someday eventually the game will come out is good enough. I mean are our phones so devoid of games that we need Doom Classic to come out immediately? I say let id take it's time. They need to get Rage at a certain point in the development before they can mess around with the iPhone stuff I'm sure. Though saying that I hope Rage does awesome so we can see a Rage iPhone game as well
Meeeeeh... I loved the way I felt when I was playing through Wolf3D on my iPhone, it was awesome. I thought Duke3D would hold me over long enough before Doom Classic came out, but I just hate hate haaaaaaate the controls (Even after they 'fixed' them). Yeah, it is just a game... but such a good game! I hope all this excitement flatters iD and their developers - I am sure they are aware of the HUGE anticipation for this release. I think all anyone really wants, besides the game to hurry up and come out, is better communication between them and the Internet world! We are all so connected with tons of other developers via Twitter/Facebook/Blogs/etc that this empty void such a huge company created sucks that much more, haha.
