I really wanna say I love this... But on my 6S, it plays a bit... Choppy. Could just be my device though. The joystick is kind of awkwardly placed and a tad big... I was able to get through the loading quicker by making the world medium and lowering the amount of waves. There's also a 'battery saving mode' in the settings I turned on. It drained about 5% after playing through the second day. But... OMG how freak'n cool is it that I have SHIPWRECKED in MY POCKET!!! I love this game (on PC)... Hopefully it gets some performance enhancement updates over time. But even if it never does, there's no way this thing is ever leaving my phone. **edit** So after some more playing, the choppiness has evened out and the game feels a bit smoother. I might just need to clear some space off my device...
Just started playing and died after getting to the second island. It's so freaking cool to build a raft / boat and take to the open ocean!!
Omigad!! Haven't played it and seeing that it has battery save mode and a virtual joystick is a heaven sent.
thank you for the info! buying this now hoping they roll the vstick on the original as. it should he easy, right?
How does this compare to the original don't starve? I just bought that one taking advantage of the Christmas sale, but have just played for 5 minutes and haven't gotten too far. Is it worth buying if you have the original? I've got an SE, so performance should be around the same as in the 6S, right?
Now, I could be wrong... But... The original has 'tasks' you can go about trying to complete alongside just straight up survival... Whereas Shipwrecked takes all of the mechanics from the original, adds new features, but doesn't really task you with anything other than survival.
Thanks Synthetic, I'll stick to the original then and play more. If I like it enough, then I'll buy this follow up.
Thanks for that I was just about to ask the same question - struggled to get into the first one but was still interested in this, though I suspect it might not be for me unfortunately
Yeah I feel the same looks very interesting but not sure how this works. Can you play this in short intervals
Kind of surprised this wasn't just an IAP for Don't Starve PE. Interesting that it's a full game. I may give this few days to see what everyone says before purchasing.
It's just like the original in that you can save & quit at any time... But the extended loading times for larger worlds could make it harder to boot up when you've only got a couple minutes.
What do you mean by task? This version of the game is a lot more accessible than Dont Starve. I am not sure where it stands with adventure mode, but the initial game is a lot easier. You wont hit that 2 4 day death learning curve that you can run into in DS. Plus, the controls with the virtual stick makes this version enjoyable. I have reached out to Klei to see if they have any intentions to reverse engineer that for the first app. If you are on the fence, get this version. It is superior to the first in every way possible except for the lack of Adventure Mode story content from the first Dont Starve. I am going to have a hard time going back to the DS PE app from this one because of how awesome it is. The only issue I have run into with the long load times, is from the world creation. Starting the app back up and loading a save does not seem to have the issue for me. I have avoided the wikia on this one to allow for surprises and exploration and it is just a treat to play. Battery consumption isnt horrendous but you are going to be draining quickly. After an hour, I lost about 68% without battery saver. Seriously . Get this damn app! Its full of great gameplay, charm, style, and how can you go wrong with game full of talking parrots? CHUMP!
