Good lord! This thread is dead! /tumbleweeds A real shame given that DS is a game I could have played in the flesh [London on Board], but sadly, do not have the time [girlfriend] to attend. So an iOS adaptation would be the ticket. Sadly, given the lacklustre comments in this thread, as well as the raging hand-bag fight over at BGG, I'm going to have to pass: No online multiplay Weak AI Literal port (wooden blocks) No adaptation to the medium Codito and Playdek are improving with every release (and adding to my backlog of games that I need to purchase), and Coding Monkeys set the standard with Carcassonne. Waiting on the massive update from Big Daddy Creations before I purchase Eclipse. Sadly, I get the impression that GMT Games are using the iOS release of DS as a tutorial before people buy the physical board-game. It has been 9 months since the first and last update. GMT Games are going to need to decide whether to commit to iOS since DS was their first iOS release and put in the necessary work into DS, or whether they are fine with the game acting as a gateway to the board-game.
Sounds like you missed the very recent news post over on BGG where GMT clearly outlined what is happening with each of their many iOS games, upcoming and existing, including DS. In the case of this particular app the current programmer has decided he simply doesn't have time to work on it and has handed over the reins (and code), and GMT are currently in talks with another company to finish and release the update.
Thanks for the head's up, Appletini. I rarely read BGG unless I wish to research a board-game (Dice Tower via YouTube is a favourite). Glad to hear that GMT Games will be supporting this and other releases. I'll add DS to my list and keep an ear out for any further developments - once they manage to contract with another company to finish and release the update. Here is the BGG news for anyone who is interested. I'll also offer an apology for my insinuation that they may have been using the game as a tutorial for the physical product. Note: I did visit their official site but could not find any information relating to the current state of DS. Once again, thanks Appletini for the head's up. The silver lining is between the DS update and BDC's big update for Eclipse is that I can make some inroads on my backlog before the updates hit.
Update is out Edit, damn portrait only, no tutorial, worse UI, auto save crash, all hope lost, end of days, melodrama abounds etc. etc.
Has anyone played this since the update a few weeks ago? I'm wondering if it has been improved in any meaningful ways!
