Guys, let us know what you think. I think I'll also try the lite version. Anything poker is good with me, and hey dogs...bonus.
My review (for those that were interested in one): "Fun and... Dare I say adorable? Who knew poker could be so cute! This is a great game for beginners and experts alike. The interactive tutorial and instructions are very helpful in explaining how the game is played, and the card meter, which indicates the strength of your hand, is a bonus. As well, each dog has unique 'tells' to indicate how good a hand it feels it has, which is both funny and helpful. I'd definitely recommend this lighthearted take to anyone interested in learning the game. More experienced players won't be letdown by this title either; there are options to turn off the card meter as well as the tells to make it more challenging, so there is fun to be had at all levels. As you progress you unlock different breeds to play which gives it a fun goal to work towards. I will say that in my experience, this has been very challenging even at the beginner level and might do with a minor change to the mechanics to make it a little easier to accomplish for those of us just learning the game (perhaps by way of less opponents at first based on how many dogs we've already unlocked). If there was anything more I'd like to see in Dogs Playing Poker, it would have to be more customization options, perhaps in the way of buying accessories with your earnings for the dogs that you've unlocked. They're so adorable that you can't help but want more ways to interact with them. That, and the ability to play online against others would really be nice additional features. Overall though, this game is really well done and I have no complaints. If you like dogs and poker, or even just one or the other, chances are this game will make you like both a whole lot more!"
Thanks for that review. Sounds like it's got some potential. I'll definitely keep it on my short list. Have you played Governor of Poker? I'm hoping to get some comparisons from someone that has both.
I haven't tried this game yet, but I have played the lite version of Governor of Poker quite a bit. That game is very enjoyable. The AI is actually pretty decent for a poker game, and I like the story aspect. I've been meaning to pull the trigger on buying the full version.
I have the full version of Governor of Poker. I grabbed it while it was on sale recently. It's a great, laid back poker game. The story part is cool. The animation is nice. And, most importantly, the gameplay and AI are solid. It's not too easy to win. I'm hoping that Dogs Playing Poker is similar in feel. It seems like it is. I just want to know if it's worth having another game like it.
