Huh? Did you actually read my post and my previous replies? You're arguing with someone that agrees with you. I've said multiple times that I don't give a crap what they do with the art and I personally enjoy it. I even used Block Fortress, survival craft etc as examples, then you used the same examples against me. I only messaged them and said maybe they should try tweaking the icon and the promo material. Not the whole art. I only messaged them with this so that people here stop whining about it and just discuss the actual game. I also mentioned that it probably comes down to cultural differences, then you said the exact same thing back at me. You would know all this, if you know, you actually read my posts before going on a cringeworthy tirade callIing me an SJW. In the process you ended up arguing with someone with the exact same view as yourself.
Yes, and I made that clear in my following posts. To conclude: I've read the question "why is Apple approving that stuff" somewhere above, and the answer is simple: Apple doesn't care about copyrights and IPs on its own, except when it's their own developed stuff. Apple never disapproves an app that's copying another one. It's not their duty. No Apple reviewer is able to know all the apps on the store and is bound to compare them. That's the duty of the copyright holder, the dev/s of the original app. Nobody even knows if the devs - even if it's highly unlikely - have bought the rights from KLEI to use their art. It happens. No turmoil when somebody makes the umphteenth clone of Minecraft, but then people complain when a dev uses a similiar title screen and a few assets, like a picture of stones. And why, if that's so important, did nobody give the Enchanted Cave dev a notice that his whole game concept was 'stolen'? I'm just saying that people jump into affairs where they don't belong. That's a thing the devs should care about themselves. We're not here to educate devs that may have taken inspirations or even 'stole' stuff from other games, no matter how good or angry the intention is.
This simply isn't true. The recently released on iOS game Kill the Plumber was rejected for having a strong resemblance to "a well known game franchise", Mario. Go checkout the upcoming game thread for that title. Meanwhile games like Minecraft 2 and Geometry Dash 2 get approved while blatantly stealing more then just the name. Minecraft 2's developer website link in the App Store takes you to the official Mincraft website and Geometry Dash 2 uses the official Geometry Dash's entire app description and images along with linking to the official games website.
That's surprising. That rejection is a pretty rare, very rare occassion and new to me. It happened before, but you can count those examples of rejections with two hands. In general, they let nearly everything through the review process.
It does seem rare and arbitrary. However Apple's approval process works, it's seriously flawed. They need to apply the same level of scrutiny to every app. If they reject Kill the Plumber because of it's similarities they need to stop letting others literally pretend to be sequels to games they aren't even related to. Or they need to just let everything through. I'm not saying I support the second option, but they should be consistent in the way they treat these things.
You know what? Sometimes I suspect that even Apple doesn't know how Apple works. How the heck shall we know, then?
The real debate regarding The Greedy Cave should be how similar it is to The Enchanted Cave 2. I already read several times in the game's thread that it was more roguelite than The Enchanted Cave, but what I never read was how similar it was to The Enchanted Cave 2: same hidden rooms with stairs, same finding of pages which explain background story of the cave, same "recover golden objects, lose the rest" philosophy... If I had known all this, I'd probably have bought The Enchanted Cave 2 first and would have never bothered with The Greedy Cave, which after many hours of playing makes it clear that if you want to 100% everything, you need to spend on crystals.
