It shows up in my Mobile AppStore (iPod 1st gen) and it says version 1.3 has some kind of a new mode... Is it finally compatible now?

Yes, the most recent update has added a touch mode, so no microphone is required. The description says that an external mic will also work on an iTouch so you can blow if you want to.

When I try downloading it says it's only compatible to iPhones...

The update info did say it includes iTouch compatibility. I only have an iPhone so I can't confirm or help you out. Sorry.

Okay. I had a little conversation with some people at ipodtouchfans.com and the result was, that Ocarina would run on iPods because of the new touch mode, but Smule hasn't set the compatibility to iPods (1st gen).
    Is this possible?

Ocarina without using a mic is kinda... pointless. I mean, that's why Ocarina is Ocarina!
