i can't not listen to the hype, you know?
i mean hype is what gets you excited about it. unfortunately...not everything that is hyped is good. sometimes you get excited and then there is no delivery.
somedays i just buy something, other days i do tedious research - scanning every review, googling it, etc.
i wish there was a way only really good stuff got hyped!

Sometimes i do sometimes i don't.If it's sorta game that i might possibly like and if it's cheap i will get it.If the youtube video doesn't interest me i'll never buy.I never bought peggle, worms,i dig it, real racing, cjs, etc, etc. But i did buy minigore, flight control ,F.A.S.T, terminator salvation(after the price drop),Galaxy on Fire and pocket god.Of these i like flight control ,pocket god and absolutely love FAST.I hate both terminator salvation adn galaxy on fire.
Whether you like a game or not depends to a large extend on the controls implemented and that's difficult to guage from youtube vidz.

    Don't believe the hype! :p

I can easily avoid it if a genre I'm not interested in but I have to admit, with something say like Minigore I had to take another look. It looked cute but so shallow and I didn't understand the hype. Didn't Zombies and Me just get dissed for being a game all about style without substance? I did finally get it (for review purposes, of course, cough cough) and while not the second coming it was made out ot be...it's good shallow fun with boatloads of style and extremely responsive controls that just feel "right". I do have to admit that, to me at least, its biggest selling point is the PROMISE of future content. Mnay have made these claims before but as this was one of the most hyped and therefore incredibly high selling $1 games, I think it's more than likely they'll really follow up on this.

    It's not that silliest thing.
If you were a junior game designer or student about game designing, you may want to know the difference between the games to analysis what element players like the most. (even it's so little which you are hard to understand well by watching youtube or reading a review)
