I don't have a screen protector. I really like the look of the 'nude' iPhone 4 so I just leave it like that.
I never used a case and in April I regretted my choice - iPod fell from knee height and glass broke. Still haven't gotten around taking it to repair and it actually has some glass parts missing, worried that some water will get inside. Anyway, I use a screen protector to protect the screen.
I always use a case and screen protector. Otherwise it's too easy to drop at some point. Gotta agree, when it's 'naked', it feels sleeker because it's slimmer and so smooth, etc, but gotta protect it. Like a condom, man, 'better safe than sorry'! I like to take great care of my device, and can't stand scratches at all, either, so I keep a good screen protector on it and also I know when the next gen. units come out I'll be getting one, and it helps with resale value for me.
So do I... but there aren't any. How do you even scratch glass unless intentionally? I suppose you could keep it in the same pocket as your keys, but that should be an obvious thing not to do.
I drop my iPod all the time and it works fine and has no scratches on it. Honestly, I drop it at least once a week! I've even thrown it a couple times out of frustration. I just thought the new iPhones were supposed to be fragile?
3GS, no case or screen protectors, and its been in perfect condition for 2.5 years now. A piece of baklava did fall into the mute switch last year, but luckily it didn't seem to cause any damage
One time, i had just gotten home after a long day, took my device out of the mp3 plug on the car and it just slipped off my hand and onto the sidewalk. Back was totally scratched and the camera could only take blurry pics. I brought it to apple and they replaced the back panel, which fixed everything. Pretty cool of them.
