After using a case (Otterbox Defender) and taking it off today to clean my iPhone 4S. I got that feeling again, of just how good the iPhone 4S feels in the hand without a case and am considering using it without either a case and a screen protector.
Most of the time I do not use a case for my ipod - and I have never used a screen protector. If the setting demands a case (like if I am at work or something) I put one on.
I used to have my device naked for a long time before finally covering it with a dexim super juice battery case. Because its practical - not because of the "protection" qualities
I use a Speck Candyshell case, but I use no screen protector. I used to never go without either, and when I first got my 4th Gen Touch, I had a screen protector on it, but it started to come off, so I took it off and marveled at the fact that the Retina Display looked sooooo much more godly without it. Since then I have only used two other screen protectors, but took them off within days because of how crappy it made my screen look Exactly!
Went for an one month period without a case just a few weeks back after breaking mine. The 4th gen. iPod is way too slim without one. Got another case. Don't use a screen protector though, and don't see the need.
I used a Rebel Touch case and a screen protector for the entire time I owned a 2nd gen device, but when upgrading to 4th gen I decided to go with neither. I've owned it for almost a year now and bar some minor wear on the back (not enough to be unattractive though, all of the engraved text is still visible) it's practically flawless. I prefer it this way, now I don't have to deal with the whole issue of finding a decent case, my iPod looking like a plastic kids toy and the whole thing about preventing heat from escaping when I play a resource intensive game. Unless you know you're likely to drop things, there's really no need for cases, it's just more marketing black magic.
I no longer use a case with my iPhone 4. I took it off a couple months ago and was reminded of how great it looks and feels without a case. It really depends on how clumsy you are. I don't think I've ever dropped my iPhone 4 (had it for over a year now), so I don't bother with the case. I also still have my original iPhone in very good condition, not a single scratch on the screen and I never used a case or screen protector with that. So yeah if you don't tend to drop things very often then you could take it off, but if you're really clumsy then best leave it on
I don't use a case for my iPod or my android phone. I don't use a screen protector either. I can't stand the feeling of either of them plus like bactothis said, you don't really need a screen protector.
I really prefer having a case because it makes my iPod way more grippable for games and music. Plus im kinda clumsy!
Does anyone use a case for their iPad? I use the smartcover, and think it's great because I don't really like the bulkiness and look of cases, and the smartcover just protects the screen. But, I was thinking that something protective might be worth it in case something accidentally happens, because I can't just put it in my pocket. Thoughts?
Never used a case nor screen protector on my 1st gen touch. The back is scratched like hell but the screen still looks great.
The smartcover is pretty much useless when it comes to protecting the device. It's more of a gimmick than anything. Here's the one I have use for the iPad 2: https://www.speckproducts.com/tablet-ipad-cases/pixelskin-hd-wrap-for-ipad-2.html. It wraps around the iPad 2 as tightly as possible so it's not bulky. The material is excellent for grip and shock protection. There's holes for all of the buttons/speakers/etc. The front flap closes like the smartcover when you're not using the device, and it folds the other way when you use it. The cover can be used as a stand as well for the 5 people in the world who find that useful. Definitely one of the best cases I've ever bought. Throughout these three years, I'm certain I've spent enough on cases to buy me another 32 GB iPod Touch since they're $30 each for the good ones so I've pretty much seen it all. I actually used a screen cover for my 2nd gen. iPod when I first got it. Useless and not worth the trouble.
Never used a case/screen protector ever. And aside from scratches on the back (cause obviously I don't place my device down screen-down), my screen is totally unscathed.
As long as you don't drop your device, which I'm guilty of doing with quite a bit of frequency sadly, this will be the case. The back gets scratched up from sliding on any kind of surface. You're not going to leave visible scratches on the front unless you're actually trying to leave one. So yeah, as long as you're careful with your device, I don't think a case is necessary.
I know a couple of different people who don't use them with iphones one has had his screen replaced twice in the last few months and the other has been using a cracked screen for about a year. I personally really believe the apple devices are designed to break as easily as possible I think the glass used is cheap enough for the company to make it very profitable even with applecare etc.
Always hated the metal backing of the iPods which is super prone to scratches, nicks, dings, tarnish from sweaty palms (which my hands do a lot of while playing), blah blah blah. So I've always put my iPods in some kind of case. Never bought a screen protector for my iPod touch 3G 32GB. When I got my 4G 32GB it came with a really nice screen protector on it and haven't taken it off that one since. As for my Android phone, its naked: no shell, no screen protector although I slide my phone in this nifty leather case so it doesn't get scuffed up, scratched up, or whatever in my pocket. Preferences, preferences.
