MIDI keys do not a softsynth make. Logic has one sample player and some loop libraries. Rather limiting if you want to play around with some real software synthesis and physical modelling.
Anyone who relies solely on loops is not a musician. Which I gather was the point of the quotes around the word.
whats that one thing..its software thats used alot for techno..its like fruit loops or something...cant remember..anybody know what im talking about?
lol..sorry..is it good?...i mean ive always wanted to make techno....is it still considered "real music" if you do it all in fruity loops?
Yeah it's great, but if you jump straight in with zero previous experience you'll probably get totally lost. Not the simplest of programs. Oh, and ideally you need some sort of music education under your belt too, not totally necessary but it sure helps knowing what things mean and how they work. Personally I prefer more traditional instruments, nothing beats a live performance and it's just not the same when it's a computer doing it. Nevertheless, it's the art of creating a tapestry of sound that makes someone a musician, and it doesn't matter how they do it. So yes, I'd say it's real.
You can do things with loops & synth that you can't do with real instruments and vice versa. Really you should never limit yourself one way or the other - though music organically recorded by real musicians will always sound 100% more realistic than anything synthesized or looped by a computer. For the most part I tend to stay away from samples for when I loop, and record my own loops where needed.
The guy who composed the music for the video is actually just sixteen years old. Goes to show you that if you're dedicated enough, you can create pretty cool stuff using FLStudio.
