So what was all the fuss about?
Downloading now as we speak from Australia
It's available?? F yeah!!
Damn! Espgaluda II isn't on sale! grr!! lol
Why does this company always exclude older devices??
R-type is out here in HK but not this one. Gotta wait...
Ugh. I think someone ends up explaining this in EVERY Cave-related thread.
The older devices aren't powerful enough to run the game! They might be able to handle it with some slowdown, but shooters are designed with very specific speeds and intentional slowdown (to aid dodging), and these variables need to be kept consistent for the purposes of scoring.
It's hard to believe that if games like Hero of Sparta II and NFSS can run smoothly on iPhone 3G, a 2D arcade-like shooter can't... but oh well I'm not very adept on graphics technology. Shame as this game as well as the other one both look fun.
It is out now here finally -- downloading..
10th right now on iPhone mode Type A! I suck at this game.. lol It's so much fun though!
It's more the memory that's the problem. This game sucks up a crapload of memory considering the amount of stuff going on screen.
Yeah it'd basically be unplayable on older devices. They could maybe nerf the effects (which could make it look kinda bad) or change the amount of stuff on screen (which would screw up scoring comparisons entirely), but it's kind of a wasted effort to do that for devices that aren't on sale anymore...other than the low end iPod touch but that'll be changing soon enough.
It came out in other countries many hours ago but it seemed like no one was able to download it until the US one got released.
(not that I'm playing yet cause it took forever to download and now the sync is taking it's time)
Don't have Sparta but NFSS doesn't run smoothly at all on a 3G. Playable yeah, but far from smooth. Also if they're using alpha channels on the sprites (which I think they've been using for a few years now) it's another thing that would be a problem on the 3G since it takes a bit hit doing transparency from what I've heard.
Holy f*ck! I went down from 10th to 25th place in a matter of 10 minutes!! I really need to get better at this. lol Well, this was my first time playing a bullet hell in a while. lol
No other way to put it but to say that this is one impressive port. Hell it's just impressive. After Espgaluda 2 I thought it couldn't get any better. I was very wrong. I'm a Cave fan for life.
And the nighttime level KILLS!
sweet god, sweet sweet god
Oh my lord. Cave is the best thing to happen to iDevices since... well, the opening of the app store. Oh god, the bullets... the bullets... This and R-Type in the same day!!
alright this game is the shiznit, but I have to ask... will there be dev support and updates? I have yet to find a bug though!
Finally finished syncing and got through, actually 1cc'd my first time (lot of auto bombs went off though). Got 2,453,774,964 on Arcade Type B/Strong, 12th in that section...wish there was a single overall leaderboard.
lol... what do you want updated?
Got it. Playing it.
Smooth as butter.
Don't know what the hell I'm doing yet but I'll get the hang of it .
Jesus. Just got through the 2nd level and this is just simply an astounding DESTRUCTIVE WORK OF ART. Didn't think ESPGALUDA II could be beaten, but this is like bullet hell enlightenment. I have nothing to say except that every little bit further in the game leaves me a little more astounded. A masterpiece.
Damn. Some of these bullet patterns are insane. I don't see how people can dodge them without a bomb automatically going off.
