    Yup. That's the point.

The game DOES have save states though. The arcade machine didn't have that. ;)

If anybody's interested, i've managed to do a youtube video of me scoring the first two stages of iPhone mode. I can do any videos on request if you guys want, as i've managed to get my DisplayRecorder working properly. :)

Well, now you've gone and *really* confused me... :p

The App Store file is listed as 366 MB, and my iTunes is listing the installed file (the first version) as 443.8 MB. That adds up to 809.8, which is obviously still less than what iTunes is telling me I have free on the phone. Is the problem that a.) that's too close for comfort, and the system basically requires a buffer of at least a few more MB of free space, or b.) the installed updated file would actually end up being at least a little larger than the installed first version of the game? Or is there a third option?

    This has me really curious.

Update: Nevermind, I have my answer: I installed the update through iTunes and the updated version is listed as 488.2 MB.

    488.2 + 366 = 854.2 - 811.47 = No dice, Chump! X_X

Dodonpachi Daioujou is the prequel - It was released on PS2 in Japan, and also on Xbox 360 with the Black Label arcade release.

Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu is Dodonpachi Resurrection. Daifukkatsu is the original Japanese name.

    The series goes:
    • DonPachi
    • DoDonPachi
    • DoDonPachi II - Bee Storm (not by cave, some people don't consider this a 'sequel')
    • DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou
    • DoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou Black Label
    • DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu
    • DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu Black Label

Thanks for that info Vally, appreciate it. Anyone know of any Cave DS titles available in the US? Even on DSi ware maybe?

They made Ketsui DS while back in Japan, there's no region blocking on the carts so you could import it...but it might be out of print and hard to find by now. It was basically a boss attack using the bosses from Ketsui with what appeared to be a slightly modified scoring mechanic.

...damn now I want Ketsui on iPhone, I think it's still my favorite Cave game.

Just the opposite, now I want all my Cave games on the DS.

But I think I'm really just decent with Bullet Hell games with my finger and not so much a joystick or pad. :'(

I managed to hit 59million on stage 1 using the hidden route. Hyper blasting at mid boss and milking the final boss.

350million at the end of all stages. Still rank 60 though. :(

EDIT: Just watched Vally's Video and realised that we're using the same strategy. xD. But I'm on Type A though.

Thats the board my friends and I are competing on.

Destroyed my old high of 3 billion, just got 6.45 with B-power (good for 16th at the time)...can't seem to get past that damn laser section on 5 with power though. Did it without the ura bosses too. edit-arcade mode
Main problem I have with most is the buttons more than anything I think. Biggest issue I've have with these games on the touch screen is that it's hard to play normally where you wouldn't shoot all the time. Movement wise I'm probably best on a stick, touchscreen kinda lets you cheat, dpad is ok (depending on the pad of course), and I'm pretty good on a keyboard too...I kinda prefer keyboard over game pads cause the action buttons, I like using index/middle/ring for those vs my thumb (Saturn and GC had 3 buttons in a row which I could use ok with my funky grip).

That's the same issue holding me back too, the buttons are still unresponsive.

Nice score though. :) You get stuck at the same part as me.

I've figured out the pattern that the lasers go in and how to avoid them but I still can't do it.

It's kind of like espgaluda II for me. I am good enough to complete most of the game. Unfortunately there is one point in the game that I cannot seem to master. Lasers in this game in stage 5 and the final boss in espgaluda. Atleast I think that it was the last boss, it's been a while since I played espgaluda. It makes it hard to keep playing because I literally have no trouble for the entire game until this point. It just gets really frustrating. I understand that these points in the games really differentiates the top scores from everyone else, but I would atleast in this game be able to experience all the content.

Tldr I'm mad I can't get second loop. The laser part is bullshit.

I wish I could explain to cave that if they made this 99 cents they would make more money than 8.99 and have a lot more players. Although iPhone users are spoiled by constant free updates to 99 cent games I think the response would be better. I can barely convince my close friends to drop 1.99 on iPhone games that are awesome like super quickhook.

    Bad news.

Single life clearing the game is *not* enough to trigger the second loop. :(

I just managed an almost perfect one life run with Strong Type C on Arcade mode.

    3 bombs were used.

    Second loop did not trigger.

    Which could mean:

    • All hidden minibosses might be a requirement...
    • It might be single life AND only two bombs used...
    • It could only be accessible through collecting enough bees.

Just out of curiosity, was wondering what screen size dedicated Cave fans favor--Vally, Xanthos, Drunkhobo, japtor, anyone else.

Is there any advantage, precision control-wise, to playing with the default Medium screen? I definitely prefer the large screen for seeing what's happening in-game, which is a lot.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Well you've met your wall and the only way to get past is to get better...or forego score and play kinda crappy to intentionally keep the rank low.
I bet there would be a bunch of one star reviews complaining about there being only 5 levels and asking them to make more.
    From the cave-stg guide,
    Tsujou 2nd Loop
Fulfill one of: Collect 35 bee items, or clear the game having lost only one life or used only 2 bombs.

    Ura 2nd Loop
Collect all 45 bee items and clear the game having lost only one life and used 2 bombs or less.
Maybe you have to satisfy the Ura loop conditions if you do the ura mid boss path?
I play on an iPad...so they're all big to me! I play on small since it's straight arcade res plus the 2x iPad scaling, I figure it's the least blurry (should be nice and sharp on iPhones though). I noticed in Espgaluda on med/large the movement looked slightly amplified, but I think it might just be because the scale up in screen size. In small the movement was 1:1 with my finger, it might help cause it's more a direct visual correlation to your finger rather than slightly scaled up.

The biggest advantage of small (particularly on the iPad) is that it gives you more space for your fingers to move around without covering up the game.

Of course on the other hand...it's small. If you can't see anything at that size to begin with it won't help.

That can't be right, and i'm willing to put money on the information from cave-stg being a typo, as that's what I based my knowledge off in my thread here.

I completed it with no hidden route, on a single life, using 3 bombs, on normal difficulty - No second loop.

I'm willing to bet that should read the following:

    Tsuujou 2nd Loop

    • Collect 35 Bees
      or...
    • Complete the game on a single life, using a maximum of 2 bombs
