...I haven't been able to pull it off yet either . I guess the easiest way to figure it out is to watch videos of people pulling it off and reading around to see if there's other conditions to be met. Yeah it might be a RAM thing, the launching issues some people have had are apparently memory related, but I don't think the specs of the arcade hardware is a good indicator of the iPhone port's usage. Apparently the PCB has a whopping...16MB, while older games (including ESP2) had 8MB. Sprites seem to have a magical ability to be a pain to port or something (iPhone wouldn't be the first example). As for support I say it just depends. In Cave's case anything less than what they pulled off might not have been acceptable for their fans (we shooter freaks are incredibly anal about this stuff). If your game can be pulled off without sacrifices (or with acceptable ones) on old hardware great, but it shouldn't be something to hold you back I think. Start with this first of all cause it's on sale, so might as well. Secondly it's more straightforward than Espgaluda, both get complex once you really get into it, but DDP is easier to start with. Difficulty wise they'll probably feel similar since you're new to them, I wouldn't worry too much about it, this DDP seems relatively nice though with the auto bombing and the strong type ship. Cave games generally have a nice manageable ramp up in difficulty and once you're decent it's not too hard to get to stage 3 or 4. If you want a taste of it there's the lite version of Espgaluda II. It might seem overwhelming at first but once you get used to the small hit box and recognize bullet patterns quickly it's pretty easy.
Hey japtor and every body found out how to destroy the silos before the tanks get to them the way to destroy the silos fast is my using the LASER!!!!!! I barely figured it out and want to share with u all by the way if done the right way right after u destroy the silos u will take a different route and fight a different mid boss for all levels hope this helps
I have destroyed the silos in order with laser from the beginning but have not been able to trigger it from level 1.
You just have to aim at the directions of the silos right before they appear on screen or immediately after. If you still can't get it right and really wanna have a look at the hidden route, hyper blast the hell out of them. The first time I went into the hidden route, I did it using hyper blast. After awhile, I got the hang of doing it without wasting the counter.
I got it to work in practice but really wasn't sure what I was missing but I eventually got it to work in arcade and got all the achievements. Now I just need to stop dieing in stage 5 so I can do the second loop. Also valley I got #6 power-b with said ura bosses run, but i can't help but feel it lowered my score because I couldn't combo the entire levels due to the new midbosses. Wondering what you thought about that.
True that you can use this to get into the hidden route, but one issue is that you'll blow your Hyper Cannon and won't be able to get the big score boost off the last attack of the Hidden mid-boss. There's a picture illustrating how juicy a scoring opportunity it is on the Cave site:
Which is why I told him to use Hyper if he really wanna have a look at the hidden route. Anyway guys, What's the highest score you guys achieved on stage 1?
Something I've also found. There's the potential there for a much higher score if you can chain those bosses, but all of my scores have been without the ura bosses.
150 million at 449th place globally currently on iphone mode ship A, which is what I've been trying to beat the game on 1cc. Haven't it done it yet. Amazing game. I also find that I'm much better at bullet hell with my finger than I am with a joystick or pad. Only problem is my finger dries up and i have a hard time moving without having to switch fingers in the middle of the action. Might be the first game I lube myself before playing! BTW, mostly playing iphone mode because I love the risk/reward mechanic of the S and M modes. Very very clever and is a great forcing function for the player to want to weave through bullets.
for arcade mode I score on average 550+million and I get my extra life(1 billion) by the end of stage 2
I play mostly on my iPad. I get better scores on it. I'm never able to get past 350million on the first stage. My current record is only 2.9billion iPhone Type A at rank 70ish and dropping fast. And I'm still trying to attack type A. And haven bother to try arcade mode yet.
I haven't done much iPhone mode and have no clue what my score is there, but my Arcade mode high is around 3 billion...I forget what ship and type though. Well I don't have an iPhone capable of playing it so I can't really compare ...but I figure it's like other games that I've been able to play on both with similar touch controls. The size makes a huge difference in the way you can control the game, there's simply more physical space to move your finger(s). On top of that there's just more screen to see since your fingers don't cover it up as much.
I can only imagine how much better the game is on Ipad. If I had one it would be my system of choice for this game. Playing a quick stage 5 practice when i am waiting for stuff IRL isn't that bad though on my Iphone. The day I master stage 5 is the day I can hit #1 on the leaderboards for power mode or atleast play the second loop =X
