Are you sure that the game requires constant internet connection? Can't it be played entirely offline?

Susan, Can you describe a bit more about the IAP situation? We are unclear if the IAP is required to unlock all of the characters and costumes? Or is it possible to play with enough time and patience and skills to unlocks all of them? In other words, does the game have a mandatory paywall that we will eventually hit to level up to finish the game? Personally, I don't mind IAP that allows a player to "fast track" progress, but the IAP should never be a paywall that makes the game impossible to complete or win otherwise.
Hilarious! You are right, we should have. We approached the BBC at the start of the year and pitched them on licensing the property. They loved our vision and hence agreed. We never asked for them to publish it Tiny Rebel Games and Seed Studio have worked hand in hand as partners and with tons of cooperation and support from the BBC to bring this to market.
IAP is in NO WAY required. As you put it, with enough time, patience and skill you can unlock all of the characters (with the exception of fan area, explained below). Also, it is possible to play through the game with your starting characters, leveling them up as you go. No pay wall. No energy meter. We want you to play as much as you want, when you want, and for free. What we do have is a fan area as a special thank you for those who spend a little bit of money (your first 4.99+ purchase unlocks) -- we have, for instance, a special version in there for them of Winston Churchill. That, I believe, is the only sort of exception to the rule. Fans will also get early access to content that hasn't been launched yet (such as new content before it goes to everyone).
This game is awesome and has now consumed most of my day and two full battery charges! Can I just ask the dev if you can continue to harvest items/crystals by replaying episodes and whether you plan to do any extra episodes other than the 7 seasons you're releasing currently?
And the game with Legacy theme is a perfect partner to the 50th anniversary of the show. Just perfect.
Thanks, that is so wonderful to hear. Yes, you can continue to harvest by going back and replaying as much as you'd like! And yes, we have robust post launch plans. One highlight will be a big advent calendar style promo for december leading up to Xmas day with new levels, new characters, etc. We are also already hard at work on Season 5. And adding more of the Doctors -- hopefully that will be this week in fact.
I am finding this enjoyable. I watched a little Doctor Who when I was younger, so I am not that familiar with some of what is going on now, still really good though.
Not available in germany yet. Any updates on this? Looks incredibly great and honest, such a rare combination these days. Also, Who has a fanbase that supports such an honest design I guess.
roll out in other countries Yeah we're getting tons and tons of requests (good problem?) for the rest of the world. Right now I'm just waiting our our lead programmer in Taiwan being happy with stability (we had one hiccup this morning with that internet error) to get the rest live as quickly as we can. We would like to localize first but I think we'll get English live and then add languages as they finish since people seem so anxious! Susan
Is this online only? I have an iPod touch and no internet at home, but I am a massive Doctor Who fan. If so, is there any chance offline play will be a possibility in the future? Thanks for any help in advance!
For the time being I got it off the US Store. But I really want that fan room. It's a great game with lots of lovely details. My girlfriend really wants strax but he does not drop. :-D All I hear is 'I want that potato!' One negative thing though: I am seriously disapointed that there is not a single Silence in the whole game! Oh Wait...
Great to see you here Susan, I think this game has caught people here by surprise! I have sunk in a bit of time now myself mostly getting Strax! Couldn't have Madame Vastra and Jenni without Strax along to keep them battle focused. Really enjoying the character art, looking forward to collecting more folks from the Dr Who universe. Is there more story coming in general? After getting Porridge and the Doctor introducing him to the others I was expecting we'd get a short intro for each character or at least more well known ones (there are heaps of characters so it would get a bit hard to do ). Thought there could have been a funny moment when you get Spoiler the tenth doctor but nothing really happened. Having a blast though and looking forward to new content. Thought I'd see what the fan room was about so I guess I'll see new stuff in there sometime and I have easily gotten my money's worth out of the game so far.
Is this fan area a bonus level or bonus world then? If so, how many extra levels in this locked area? Do I need to create some sort of account to access it? Also, a previous poster mentioned that you have to be online (connected) to play the game. Is this true in order to access the levels? Can the game be played entirely offline?
Hi again-- Let's see: - offline -- actually, the game only checks for connection when you launch. we'd rather people be connected so they are always patched to current *but* if you go offline with the game already launched, you can continue to play. - Strax --- love Strax, glad you guys do too. There's also a costume in the game for Strax for you to find (battle outfit as opposed to the butler outfit he starts in -- Vasta has an awesome costume to find too) - Silence -- lots of Silence!!! we wouldnt dream of leaving them out. My personal favorite are the Peg Dolls and you'll find them in S6 Night Terrors of course. Again, thanks for the tremendous reception on Touch Arcade. Will keep poking in to respond. Susan
