I think you have a good point here. Not only regarding Doodle Jump, but a lot of other games too. Promo codes I'm looking at you.
Plants Vs. Zombies. Hahaha. Just kidding. It was Myst for me. I never played it before in my life and had always heard the hype of it back in the day. It was an instant buy for me on the day it debuted and it bored me to tears.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Myst is one of the best adventure/puzzle games around! I'm guessing the whole pre-rendered screens thing didn't really do it for you, eh?
I never get into doodle jump either, too simple and repetitive. I guess it's appeal is to the most casual of gamers.
Easily Pocket God. Extrememely shallow, boring after just 10 minutes of messing around. I'd also say Rolando 2, as while it was a good game, it wasn't entirely spectacular.
Doodle Jump -- What is the big deal about this game? After playing 1 game I wanted to put it down, but to be fair I gave it a few more shots because it was reviewed SO highly... I mean, I must've been missing something right? and once it felt like torture I deleted it. Okay it wasn't that bad but seriously, I found it anything but "the most addicting game ever." Pretty boring imo. Pocket God -- Just felt like there was no point to anything in the game. After the novelty wore off it was over. Mini Gore -- Another "whats the big whoop?" game. Nice graphics. Nice presentation, but after running around doing the same thing for 10 minutes I found myself just wanting to turn it off... which I did. There isn't enough depth to keep me occupied for anything longer then 2-3 minutes of game play.
Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I'm pretty sure Arkham Asylum was never a movie. I sure hope I'm wrong though.
PocketGod.... what does it do? I was expecting something with alot of depth but there really isn't much to do with it but watch. Now if Peter Molyneux made it, then it would be interested like Black and White.
Assassin's Creed, Spore Origins, Zenonia (grinding=Argh!), Rock Band, Rolando 1 & 2 (yes, got sucked in twice), Modern Combat, Rogue Planet (A.I. was stupid, and you'd walk for 30 minutes before or after combat), and worst of all: Resident Evil De-evolution. Hyped games I don't regret: GTA Chinatown Wars, NOVA, Jet Car Stunts, Tetris, Hook Champ, Minigore, Pocket God (not much to do, but distracts you for a few minutes with each of the 29 updates it's released).
Well, this is old school (like really old school) but Super Monkey Ball. Terrible game controls completely ruined that game, even though Apple's SDK event in 2008 made it look amazing. I still regret spending the money on that game. :O
