No Yes, all of their games are basically clones of popular franchises. and yes, a lot of their games are clones of each other, just with different skins. and of course, their voice acting is awful. but unlike some clones, gameloft does a good job recreating popular console games for the iphone. the graphics are among the best for iOS and the gameplay is usually pretty good.
Aralon takes inspiration from Oblivion and no one seems to complain in fact the same people who ranted about Gameloft is raving how Aralon is like Oblivion in your pocket. Clearly a lot of people are having double standards since you see the games they are enjoying are also clones of another game. Cloning in gaming existed way before the IOS and you either live with it or just give up gaming all together.
never had any problems with Gameloft controls other than on BIA2, same for graphics (but I must admit - I did grow up in an age when 3d games looked like this or worse). Voice acting - I agree, but not all of it is terrible and again I grew up playing Resident Evil 1, bad voice acting in video games doesn't surprise me.
Honestly, I don't see any reason to hate Gameloft at all. Yes, their games may been blatant clones of popular franchises, but what in the world is wrong with that? I don't care whether a game has been copied or not; all that matters is the game itself, and I believe many of you feel the same way. The more global, issue is that hate is only 50 percent Gameloft. Simply put, people like us are nitpicking way too much on extremely minor issues (such as voice-acting (wtf?), lack of updates (much less irrelevant than you think), etc.) Personally, I think Gameloft creates beautiful and fairly entertaining games and as long as they keep on doing that, I see no reason to hate on them.
Yes and No. I like gameloft because they're good at making awesome FPS games (nova, MC2 BP). I have no doubt they are going to port Gears Of War /Resistance and i am sure they will nail it.They're also good at porting adventure games. So far, one of their best game to date is spiderman total mayhem. Nonetheless, they seem to forget to update their games. I don't like them for that reason.
Well... you ARE insane. I guess it is just a matter of weeks before you get banned. Now go, see a doctor.
I hope you didn't miss the 24 hour Real Golf sale. But if you did it's worth the $5 easy. Awesome game, a few hiccups here and there, but don't believe the folks hating the controls, they're great. Let's Golf 2 is good too, but I prefer realism personally (in my sports games anyway). And the touch controls feel almost as if swinging a club. Very satisfying. Best part of the GL appvent calendar IMO.
Pros: - Great designs - Great gameplay - Full premium-quality games (as opposed to buggy, half-finished games like Aralon) - Decent servers Cons: - Lack of updates - Expensive - Bulky games
I did not get it, as I have Tiger Woods. But I'm regretting it now, as what's 99 cents? I have always enjoyed Hot Shots Golf though, so Let's Golf 1&2 were good for me, at least for the price.
I lol'ed. Obviously you have never played a day one open world game. They are ALWAYS full of bugs and kinks to work out. hahahaha. It's more than playable. And Gameloft games are expensive? I think thier usual $6.99 price tags are more than feasable with the amount of polish that are put into thier games.
On the whole I think Gameloft are a good thing for iOS. First and foremost it's about providing some competition for the likes of EA. To me it doesn't matter that many of their games are clones of big franchises because it means for example that there is a choice when it comes to games of a certain genre. If means that EA can't charge what they like for say Tiger Woods Golf because Gameloft offer an alternative. I don't think they're much different from any other big developer when it comes to lack of support for titles; the general rule of thumb seems to be the bigger the developer the less likely there'll patches and extra content added later. If you don't like Gameloft and their clones, that's fine, don't buy their stuff, but I think iOS and it's users would be worse off without them.
I'll give it to them that they made such revolutionary games as N.O.V.A and ported necessary classics like Driver, but something about their games, however fancy, however action-packed, it feels sort of... cheap. I really can't describe it. OK, it sounds fun, so here's a pro-con chart. Pros: -Developer making the most console-like games -For iPod games, they were revolutionaries in complex game design Cons: - Terrible voice acting. Every single %#!& game of theirs (especially the first Nova) has vomit-inducing voice. - Of course, their trademark ripoffs (You know da kine. Halo/Nova, Modern Warfare/Modern Combat, plus many others like ripoffs of Uncharted, Soul Calibur, etc.) Their most original game was probably Let's Golf, a simple golf game.
I voted yes, I mean they have some crappy games with equally crappy voice acting and such, but they have some awesome ones like NOVA and Spider-man.
Pros -graphics -they bring what others developers can't -great controls (most part) -they're so constant in pushing out games -they care about the iOS -they push the platform capabilities Cons -terrible single player games, 4 hour campaign..then delete. most of them just aren't even fun for the duration. -price? haha..only in comparison to other iOS games, that is. -they're probably better off not having voice acting, lol.
