And it's not like Gameloft are copying iOS indie developers. They are only copying console games made by big developers such as Bungie, Infinity Ward, Blizzard etc. And they aren't going to mind. I really hope Gameloft continues to copy other games, they do such a good job and nobody else has the balls to do it.
Nuts balls And some Nut who as been ripped off and ad their dream and livelihood ripped one day, will have the BALLS to take a machine gun into Gameloft offices Not me I am too nice But someone will
Why? Why? I am just quoting newspapers and history. For instance a taxi driver just six months ago was taunted by fellow drivers and also other people, and his wife had an affair and one day he cracked and shot the taxi drivers and drove to shoot his wife and her lover. Then he shot himself.
No they don't: 1. They take tried and proofed formulas for their games 2. They don't really adapt their games for touchscreen. Everything is handled through virtual buttons. ->> No balls for inovation...
As Vovin said, it's a risk (for other developers). Shamelessly copying other games could destroy a developer's reputation. But luckily for Gameloft, they have been successful. @ Noodler, just because you don't like Gameloft, you want all Gameloft employees to die? You are one twisted f*ck.
What the hell does that have to do with copying other game formulas, something that has been going on in the industry since the 1970s and almost every single developer that ever existed has done? Seriously, go see a shrink. You've got a real problem.
I enjoy Gameloft games - they never much copy anything other than setting, and general gameplay mechanics - things that have been overtly copied in the games industry for years. I mean no one ever complains that The Quest or Undercroft have similar mechanics to the Dungeon Master games. Or that Dead Space shares similarities with the System Shock series. As for the actual games Gameloft makes - sure a lot of them lack creativity, but there is a lot of polish in their games that make for an enjoyable experience. Gameloft Games I have played: Shadow Guardian - probably my favourite of the bunch gameplay wise. NOVA 1 & 2 - enjoying the second one quite a bit more than the first right now, the first felt boring through the alien corridor levels. BIA2 - a lot of fun, but not my favourite. Can't put my finger on exactly why. Avatar - feels dated now. Terminator - feels dated now. Zombie Infection - really enjoyed this one, the levels felt small though. Spider Man Total Meltdown - enjoying this one right now, feels like it might be short though. HoS 1 & 2 - the first one feels way dated now, but the second one was tons of fun. Splinter Cell - I loved this when I first played through it, though I wish they had taken the influence more from the non-linear stealth elements of the first SC games.
Interesting that people could hate something that adds options... Without gameloft, we wouldn't have any of these carbon-copy console wannabe games. They might be inferior to the originals they so blatantly flatter sincerely, but it's nice we have the option to play them all the same. I'm not particularly a fan of shadow guardian as the controls make me cringe, the sense of danger is diluted and it just doesn't stand up to the experience offered by uncharted on PS3... ...but it's an iPad I'm using and I paid a fraction of the price for a game that in some respects is quite remarkable. Modern Combat 2 has clearly taken lead from Modern Warfare 2, especially when it comes to online, and thanks to gameloft, I can have a COD style fix when I'm away from my PS3. In a nutshell, gameloft is surely a good thingy/entity as it just adds to the many options we have as iOS consumers, and the particular market niche they seem to cover is: "console games you'd like to see on iPad/iPhone, but the big companies are a bit busy as it is, so here's our version"
Did someone say that Gameloft releases POLISHED games? Since when games with imprecise controls, glitches, horrible graphical problems (framerate drops, dithering, clipping, etc.), godawful voice acting, bad music looping, etc. can be considered polished?
