I have read about screen protection and I'm a bit unsure if I need it or not. I thought the screen was made of some sort of glass, therefore virtually scratch proof, if so then why the need for protection? Also, again I have seen load sof things about cases, do I need one? Do I need a screen protector and case mates!? Thanks
Glass or not, it will still scratch. so many things can damage your iPhone/Touch, such as keys, coins, pens etc. Screen protector is a great idea at a minimum, and a case is a good idea more so for shock protection. I personally dont care what the back of my iTouch looks like! so i just have a protector.
At least a screen protector. Actually the only things that will scratch it are "hard minerals". Ie silicon, diamond, etc. So it's the little pieces of sand or debris, in your pocket that will damage the screen the most.
My last iPod touch screen (1st gen) got scratched like you could not believe. When people say, "Oh the screen can't scratch because it is glass" it is not true. I am using the anti glare screen protector from the apple store and it works great- no bubbles at all. I switch off using my two cases which are a Speck Candyshell and a iSkin Touch Duo.
I had my 1st iPod for 2 years-ish and only ha a screen protect for about 1 month. It's a silly idea unless you put it with keys and coins etc. I have a pokey just for the iPod and it has only ever had a few scratches.
i stopped using a screen protector, not sure why. I had one for a few week but I've had my iPod for 15 months and 14 of those I used to screen protector and my screen looks perfect. So does the back of my iPod, I just got some random case..don't need anything fancy
You always need protection . But I'd recommend getting a screen protector and a case. Specially a screen protector.
You will regret it if you dont get a screen protector i already got a deep scratch on my screen that makes a rainbow effect get one please for the sake of your iPod!
Hell yea dude, you definitely need to invest in a screen protector, because if you think about it, do you really want some scratches to ruin your couple hundred $$ iDevice? I always make sure I put a screen protector on any of my portable devices.
I use this one on my iPhone. It does feel a bit cheap, and the touch sensitivity is reduced ever so slightly (99% of the time, it's unnoticeable though). My friend, on the other hand, does not have a screen protector on his iPhone and his screen is scratched quite badly. For some unfathomable reason, he keeps his iPhone in the same pocket as his keys. Needless to say, the keys win. The way I see it is that the above-linked screen protector is so cheap that it's worth a shot, and it means you don't have to worry about being too careful where you keep your iPhone/iPod Touch. I'm definitely glad I have it. Just make sure that you take the time to affix it properly otherwise it will be noticeable and really cheapen the look of your iPhone/iPod Touch.
I used a first generation iPhone from October 2007 until the week the 3GS was released without a case or screen protector and it still looks as good as the day I got it. I still don't use any kind of protection on my 3GS, the plastic back is scratched to hell but the side that actually matters still looks great. I've never been a big fan of mobile product cases but I guess I'm just weird that way.
In my unfortuate experence I realized it doesn't protect from scratches as much as it helps reduce the chance of shattered screen.
i still use the screen protector it came with!! slightly peeled off on one end, but still effective nevertheless
It came with a... oh yeah! Thing is, it had this little tab on the side (obviously, the thing isn't suppose to be their forever), and it ticked me off. I might pick one up later if it doesn't feel too out of place.
