I have a fairly old 720p/1080i tv in our house and I have noticed when running tvOS apps like Minion Rush that parts of the screen are cutoff (the most important part with the score etc). When I check the calibration with Apple's own tvOS tool it shows the entire screen and doesn't seem to have a problem. In my own game which I am developing I have deliberately avoided entering into the zone (60px from the top and bottom / 90px from the sides), however there is so much open space when run on a modern TV it looks ridiculous. My questions therefore... Are developers avoiding this area? Are developers ignoring the recommendation? Is there a hack or cheat to set under-scan programatically making this area visible on all screens? The reason I ask the last question is that after running some apps I have noticed that mine worked ok and displayed the full screen. It was as if one particular app had forced a setting which subsequently after hitting the menu button was never turned off. On this rare occasion, even Minion Rush worked fine. In Apple's own words.... Keep primary content away from the edges of the screen. Be mindful of the area spanning 60 pixels from the top and bottom of the screen, and 90 pixels from the sides. ItÂ’s difficult to see content that close to the edges, and unintended cropping can occur due to overscanning on older TVs. I welcome any comments on the matter. Thanks.
