According to this little whatsie right here, at about 9:05, we be gettin’ DOS2 for iPad sometime soon. https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2020/10605
Thanks for posting this! Larian Studios are working on Baldur’s Gate 3 right now and I hope this means that game will eventually make it to mobile also. BG is my favourite RPG series and I started playing it again but this time on my iPad.
Here’s the thing that confuses me: right now I can run DOS2 on my Switch Lite, which is less powerful and has a smaller screen than my iPhone XS. Why is this an iPad only release?
Weird... so instead of releasing DoS1 first, DoS2 gets released. I know their story aren’t directly connected, but still weird.
Would glad purchase it, but I don’t have an Ipd at the moment. Would love to play on my phone, though. I can’t bother playing in front of tv anymore.
Haven’t played either (though I bought the first one in a Steam sale a while back). The second game became a bit of a phenomenon, sales-wise: one of the best selling and best reviewed PC CRPGs of all time and, for many people, kind of a return to the glory days of Baldur’s Gate.
If you own the first one, you should try it. It’s even more fun if you can find a friend to play co-op. Just make sure the person isn’t someone that is too serious about friendly fire and a person that can enjoy the chaos.
Can you control it just with the touchscreen though? Because otherwise the buttons are a big difference. I'd be surprised if it played well with purely touchscreen controls on either of those devices, whereas on an iPad the lack of buttons is likely less of an issue. Incredible game though. Anyone with even a passing interest in RPGs should play it. It will arguably be the best RPG - or even game - available on iOS when it launches.
Maybe — I can see touch points being a issue. But as far as the UI and text size is concerned, an iPhone XS screen will do a lot better than a Switch Lite screen. (To be clear, I like my Switch Lite just fine — just finished playing the excellent port of BioShock Infinite.)
I’ll have to get a new iPad at some point because I’m not sure if the iPad Pro 2017 is powerful enough for this game
