It would be cool if you could have a friends list. By adding names, this could also double as an email/IM system.
Why....then simply get a chat app The mystery note is, what it makes unique. Why just downgrading it to a messenger. That would totally destroy it's sense.
Ask the devs. But perhaps they sort before I get the message, cause I never got any spam or spamlike or even very stupid message. Perhaps they have some kind of robot who searches for key words to sort out these messages?
Silly question time! OK its silly question time. So let me ask an obvious and therefore silly question. I'm really liking this app. Nice, relaxing and fun. I've sent out a heap of messages. I've picked up a lot of bottles. I've replied to all I have collected so far. And only one response to date. I've gone back to my hut and the cute little turtle has mail for me. Only I can't collect it from him. I'm told my inventory is too full. So what do I do now? How do I delete old messages or messages I no longer want to keep?
Can only imagine this application becoming the next new 'thing', then it showing up on the local news because someone received an actual suicide note from across the country that somehow helps the investigation. (I'm not normally so dark, it's just something that crossed my mind with the spam discussion.)

I've gotten nothing but crap. Tried to send out thoughtful stuff... Though my first was a haiku, which was nice. Other than that, crap. But it's still really cool so far! Does anyone else have the problem where after 10-15 minutes your ipod (2nd gen....1st went in the toilet...don't ask...2g is much nicer though!) drops the wifi connection w/o telling you and you wander around for an hour with no bottles before you figure it out?
Fair enough... i bought it, and it looked like there were about 105 reviews with 4 1/2 stars, so that justified the purchase.. i've sent out two messages, so i guess now we play the waiting game? it's nice there's an ocean background noise.. just waves crashing and seagulls.. it would be nice if there was something else to do... like to try collect pieces to build a raft or start a fire or something... EDIT: OR like a sandcastle game where you had to push around the sand to keep back the water? great game for a touchscreen! (TM) me haha EDIT 2: well i've been playing for maybe 10 minutes.. i seem to have sent and receive messages, but i don't have any convos yet... do you have a name in this game, or do you just have to trust that you're talking to the same people??
I've sent out a heap of bottles and replies to messages but I have received very few back. When you reply it goes to the person who sent the message. And if they reply to your reply it goes back and forth from there. So if the other person responds you can have a conversation. I'm not sure how long it holds the messages for though.
I've received a lot of replies today. I only got a few weird messages. And one message saying, "Who's hot? Your hot." lolz
