Well this was a short lived game of fun, I've only been playing for the few days since it was released and today I realised I'm already sick of it, even though I was loving it for the first few days There's just no fun to be had once you know the animal patterns it's a case of click click click and then come back later At least tiny tower seemed to have something to keep you busy restocking and moving people in the lift, I played tiny tower for months and yet here I'm already sick after a few days oh well I'm off to delete it now anyway. It was good while it lasted.
Lol Also, if you've payed for a disco party, then you get a 1 or more minute party for freeing animals, it adds on to your time.
Holy cow! 3 tigers for 70k coins Do the animals buyout scale up with your progression? Good strategy today, busy but let the iPad open on Disco Zoo. Checked every now and then to collect one special event (animal buyout, animals escapes, smiley cash event). Looks like you get one every 15/20 minutes or so.
That sounds like a good idea for work tomorrow! By the way, what is the maximum amount of animals you can get? Is it 25 of each 6 types for each 7 areas, and you then rescue 40 more to get the trophies? Sure I saw a few pages back someone saying they had 10,000 or something, but my calcs make it 1050 (+ 1680) edit - just found the post it said 1050, I think I was getting confused with the GC Hackers
This is a very fair complaint! We're hoping to add more stuff in updates to give the game a lot more depth in the mid/late game that should add some of what you're looking for.
I'll counter by saying that I enjoy Disco Zoo much more than Pocket Frogs/Planes/Trains, and even Tiny Tower. This game reaches out to the collector in me. I have to catch them all! I have to finish the exhibits, and I have to finish the trophies. The pacing feels just right, as well. I always know that I'll have just enough coins in a few minutes to run another rescue and add to my collection. And when I run a rescue I may get lucky and get all three animals, or I may miss on my first shot and feel that frustration. I always keep coming back for more. I was a bit concerned that after 2-3 days of hard playing I'm already almost done with the Jungle, but the Jurassic tier is still somewhat out of reach and I have a lot to do with trophies as well You did a great job with this one, and I love it.
Really curious what you plan to add! I love the collections and the core puzzle gameplay, and have been racking my brain to figure out how you'd expand upon it. The whole thing is totally brilliant. I'd like to throw in my 2 cents for a sloth (I might be a little biased) and an aquatic habitat of some kind (sharks!) Keep up the great work EDIT: I have to say how great the pacing and monetization is. The $2.99 Zoopedia is not at all necessary, but makes it convenient enough that I felt inclined to throw down a few bucks to make my life easier. I love the way the video ads are implemented --generally high quality content, a nice incentive, and the limited quantity almost makes it like another one of your resources. I realize that to some people, this sound ridiculous, but as far as freemium games go, it's perfect. I'd like to echo Selcouth's comment above, that I love the feeling of only ever being a couple minutes from a run. Add in the 1k tips and random events, and I'm having a really hard time putting it down.
This was faster than I expected, already have 854 animals, got to stop spending now and save up for Jurassic Park now! I really like the pace, it may even be a bit too fast lol the game is very generous with the coins. I still haven't used all the 100 disco Bux I bought to thank the devs, and I kinda power played the game (only used bux to search for animals). If you're playing at a casually, the dozen ads a day are more than enough to advance at a nice pace, no IAP needed. As said by a fellow Ta forumer, they are very well integrated in game, feel non invasive and more like a daily ressource you get. Not sure the IAP part will monetize that well, but the ads might procure a steady flow of cash. Good for updates! It's a pretty smart balance from the devs. The ads in Pocket trains felt non rewarding enough (5 ads needed to unlock a train part you had to find first). Suggestion I'd like to have a fully detailed screen of all the animals you got (XX/25) and have freed (XX/next trophy). Because when you miss only a few here and there, or sell a few to other zoos, it's boring to scroll through all the screens to look at the details. I guess the trophy screens serve that purpose, but one screen with just zones/animals/numbers would be nice
Thats great to hear! I was an avid Tiny Tower player but quit after a few updates as they offered nothing new, just more floors. I was worried that this game might have the same problem in that the updates would only involve new areas and animals to collect, so its a relief to hear that new mechanics will be implemented. Can't wait to see what they are.
My short review after a few days of play The game is good but has some major issues. Firstly if you love to swipe and scroll this game is for you, The graphics are tiny but the animal cages are huge one screen each animal type and guests tip you a lot in front of each cage, which means you have to scroll to see the tips - sometimes they even tip disco bucks - which means you have to keep scrolling to get the tips, a lot. The next issue is the cost of playing each area seems to go up to quickly making replaying areas really costly and seems to rise too quickly. Lastly buying the extra disco bucks is fine but paying for the encyclopaedia seems to be a bit to far for me. I love the concept but the encyclopaedia should be either free or each page unlocked if you successfully uncover the animal or uncover it a number of times (like 5). I cant see this holding my attention to long, but it was for free, I wouldn't see that being an issue, but with the cost of the encylopedia, the cost of disco bucks and the fast increase in the cost of rescues make me resent the constant drip of potential payments having an impact on the game. £1 for the game with the encyclopaedia and I would have jumped I would have given it three stars as the potential is still there.
Yes, aquatic habitat seconded. Shark, octopus, dolphin, a few fish. Also, desert: rattlesnake, tarantula, Gila, salamander...
This game is amazing, best game from the developer so far, far better than tiny tower, pocket trains and planes together. The collecting aspect is just great. In previous comments someone said that in a future update they want more than just "the updates would only involve new areas and animals to collect", well i'm totally fine with that! Add more areas and animals please. -> DISCO ZOO = BEST GAME OF THE YEAR for me it's difficult to top the fun i have with this game.
Still running the beta version here.... Can I download the release version from the AppStore and keep them as 2 separate apps or with it overwrite the beta version? (I kinda wanna keep my 527 animals but I wanna play the release version. So I wouldn't mind starting from scratch if I can keep the other game with everything on it in a separate app)
I thought guests only drop tips on the screen you are on at the time? Certainly I've never scrolled on to a screen to find a tip lying on the floor, I've only ever seen them drop while I was on that screen. It doesn't go up quickly in comparison to how much money you'll be making from your animals. As I get further in the game, the cost of going to an area increases, but so does the money I make from my animals, meaning I can go on just as many (if not more) rescues as I could when I started. Chairing for the encyclopaedia is fine, it's the premium currency I don't like.
Seeing as you don't actually need the premium currency to do anything and it is given freely as you play, what's not to like?
