Unless I misunderstand you, the rescue cost is not "infinitely incremental". There is a cap to the rescue cost at each level (2000 for Farm, then 4000/6000/7000/8000/9000/10000 for the other levels).

And by the time you reach the cap, you have maxed out and are freeing animals for trophys, so you are getting half or more of that cost back.

    Final thoughts

I really enjoyed this game, but it ended far too quickly. In about 8 or 9 days of play, I have all diamond trophies.

The only time it got even a little slow was saving 1,000,000 coins for the time machine, but I got that in less than 24 hours after unlocking the jungle level. I saved enough bux for an 8-hour disco overnight, which earned half a million coins, and then got the other half in about 15 hours of keeping the animals awake and taking advantage of every sale opportunity.

I'm hoping there are new levels added soon!

Did anything fun happen after the diamond trophies? I have four gardens full of diamond trophies and am currently working on trophies in the Arctic.

I did the same as you, saved enough Bux for the 8-hour disco. I got the 50th Bux shortly after filling buying the Time Machine, but I waited until I maxed my zoo before throwing the party.

It's been fun, but I don't think I will keep rescuing animals after I get all the diamonds.

Not much point to it, right? Unless you're chasing people on the animals freed leaderboard.

I am just going to save my bux and open the app whenever I think about it to wake everyone up and farm coins for an upcoming update (hopefully).

I'm saving up for the jungle now and it really seems like this game is the easiest and most casual type of this game I've played in a very long time.

The one complaint I have with the game so far though, is that the main gameplay seems to be at odds with the progression. Literally, you can spend all your money in one game session, no matter how much you have, so saving means not playing. Open app, awaken animals, close app.

Other than that, I just wish that they scaled up the Discobux earn rate a little more. It just seems that it takes so long to hold Disco Parties, which is one the best parts of the whole game.

On the other hand, I'm still oddly addicted to the game despite how simple it is.

And am I the only one who laughed at the people talking to the foxes? "Wa-pa-pa-pa-pow!" lol

Really enjoyed this game, much more in fact than any other of it's type I've played. It has an attention to detail you don't often see in the app store, as others have noted the music is excellent, I love the way the animals come to you if you tap and hold in their enclosures and there is something oddly satisfying about collecting them.

My two criticisms are first that the animal enclosures are a little bare and depressing and in the case of animals like beavers, no water for them to build a dam in. It would have been cool if with each level the animals got their enclosure was upgraded a little, a climbing frame, some bamboo, a food trough whatever. And second that there is nothing sensible to buy and therefore no way to pay for the fun the game has afforded me.

The encyclopedia is a) unnecessary and b) essentially breaks the single "game" component of the game. Other than that it's just consumables. Both of these just make the game easier or shorter without increasing the fun. It would have been nice to buy something like a permanent extra try on the puzzles for instance, or weaker fences to increase animal breakouts (or stronger if roving animals annoy you) or a notice board to increase offers from other zoos. Things that add decisions instead of taking them away.

    Disco Zoo and Clumsy Ninja

Out of curiosity, how many of you also liked Clumsy Ninja?

To me, both games have similarities [they are played best in short bursts; you level in both; both games have a definitive ending; you see the progress of your zoo and ninja; an so on].

For me, these are the top two games, so far, of 2014.

Played and liked them both, but there is one huge difference. This one is more like a puzzler, can be played even when maxed out. It would be completely fine if it had the torpedo-like levels only, no coins or collectables. Those just adds to the fun. :)

It was ok. I was pretty bored by it except for the urge to level up.

I prefer games with more game, as opposed to apps that are more toys with goals. NimbleBit's other games fall into that category too, but disco zoo at least has the puzzle mechanic going for it, which is actually gamey.

I love the game's humor. The foxes are great, I've also seen the foxes speak in morse and a visitor asking "What do they say?" There's plenty more good ones beside the foxes.

You're wrong about saving, except when you're saving for a new vehicle which takes 24 hours at most. It's better to play until you're broke because (a) more animals means you are increasing your income rate and (b) once you have a full zoo, there's no reason to save anyway.

    Re: Clumsy Ninja
I was not a big fan. It had some good humor and some clever mechanics, but they all seemed really gimmicky. They were funny or interesting the first time, but it got boring really fast. I like Disco Zoo better because it is more focused and the Battleship-style collection mini-game is actually pretty fun. As I'm saving for the diamond trophies (almost done with the Jungle), I've found that each animal has an optimal solution to find them in as few clicks as possible. It remains interesting to me to try to find new animals as efficiently as possible.

I'm just about to get the time machine, and now there's another update! This game is great in that it's fun while you play, not overly demanding, and cute as a button. The progression is smooth, and generous enough to not need to spend money. It's that kind of design that encourages buying simple, unnecessary items like the bestiary. Not to speed up the game, but to support the devs.

That's awesome! :D I just finished the game and can't wait for the update. Glad the devs are adding a new region.

Great that there is a new region. I have a full zoo, and working my way through the statues, everyone is at least a bronze, with most silver, and a handful of golds and diamonds.

As a side note, which animal do you find the hardest to get? Has to be the Northern Mystical for me (won't say it, spoilers)

    Unusual and Sad Zoo Issue

    Hello, all:

Something unusual happened to my zoo last Saturday. All of my animals disappeared and it was as if the zoo was reset. In GameCenter, my animal list still stands at 1,050; however in the actual game, it appeared as 0.

Obviously, this was not good, as I also had 26/42 animals with diamond status.

I am not sure if this has ever happened with anyone else, and if so, how did they recover their zoo?

    Thanks,
    frisbee10461

Aaaaaand finally got the last diamond trophy!

Current stats of my zoo, would be interesting to see others to compare how efficient we were in getting there!
