There are several reasons for the game limit, not the least of which is usability. And yeah, I agree that most people don't know they need to select a game to complete the auto-resign, automating that would be good.
I don't think usability has to be an issue. Have 20 games show up, with a "More..." button for stuff that's older. Ok, maybe not 50,000 of them, but certainly you could do 40 that way, 20 on the main screen, 20 behind the "More...".
Just wanted to let everyone know that Disc Drivin' HD for the iPad is now available in the App Store! Disc Drivin' HD Also, to celebrate the release, we're having a limited time sale on the original Disc Drivin' for only 99 cents! Disc Drivin'
Does the game not display the last move an opponent made when you sign in? It didn't the last (and only time) I've had an opponent make a move. I'm playing the free version now, but I'd hope the paid version had some form of stat-keeping, wins-losses at the least, and a method of setting time limits for moves in games. Does it?
You need to hit the rewind button at the top to see last move of your opponent. About win/loss stats, those arent stored anywhere. Also there is no option to add custom time limits.
Anyone from here that I'm not already playing, add me! User name is Wintrymix. I play regularly. And to the dev, I just picked up the paid version. I figured I've gotten so much fun out of the free version that I felt guilty I hadn't bought it yet.
For a game which can only be used to play against other humans, it is striking how bad the online gaming is implemented compared to other titles like Carcassonne: - The last move of the opponent is not shown automatically - No such thing like an ELO or something where you can see how "good" you are - No way to see where you opponents are. Oh, yes, you can zoom, but then most of the time the opponents are too tiny to see them. Often, I think that an obstacle is the opponent. - No way to see the correct driving direction. Especially on zoom mode, this is essential! So, overall, while the game makes fun it hurts to see the potential which the game does not use.
Yes, I'm going to pass due to these omissions, even for 99c/free. I haven't played it much but so far, without more features I don't see it taking me away from my usual diet of chess/Carcassonne. Of course it's nothing like those games and can't be compared, but I'd rather spend my turn-based online multiplayer time with those than this, for now.
It's hard to play those other, strategy-based multiplayer games meaningful when you have just 15 seconds to spare before heading off to a meeting or while waiting in line at a grocery store. Disc Drivin' fits the bill here perfectly.
Hey everyone, thanks for the continued feedback, we really appreciate it. As fiveolddogs pointed out, Disc Drivin' is a different game and isn't really trying to fit the same category as chess or Carcasonne any more than it's trying to be a Real Racing competitor. That being said, we want it to be the best version of itself that it can be and we are listening to everything said here. Thanks again.
I just wanted to remind everyone that the Disc Drivin' 99 cent sale ends tonight, so now's a great time to pick it up if you were thinking about it. And we hope to share some info about the next update sometime next week!
I'll add an additional request for some type of ranking system and/or win/loss report. We (gamers) thrive on competition, and having some record or rank would really help foster that competitive spirit. That is what really addicts people to games.
Just remembered something else I thought of the other day. I know you can't maintain a server forever on the initial proceeds from the game, so I had a couple ideas for ongoing revenue. 1. Make the discs customizable via in-app purchases of decals, pictures, different colors or styles of tracers/trails that come from behind the disc as it moves, etc. 2. Make some sort of taunts or emotes available thru in-app purchases (in good taste, of course). Perhaps your disc could have some sort of animation come up from it or animate itself to indicate you are frustrated with your last shot, or happy, surprised, etc. And mild, good natured taunts. I think purchases that allow cosmetic changes are best, because if you implement purchases that give people an advantage in game-play (like perks or powers), that ruins it for a lot of people who aren't willing to shell out the money required to remain competitive. And people love cosmetic/customization options, they'll buy them. I would.
The main thing I want to see in an update is improvements to notifications. I had completely forgotten about my games for some 4 days because of this. Yeah, there's too much to do on an iPhone, and so badging the icon helps. And such.
Ok. So we finally get a content update this evening. 3 new tracks and a new skin. Let me start by saying that I and a lot of my fellow racers appreciate the new tracks. We were hoping for a little more but we do appreciate it. I've noticed my games are a little jerky now. Feels like there is a bug or something. It feels like it's stuttering or something. Is anyone else noticing this? Again Devs guans for the content. I hope there is more to come. Also think about adding some sort of personalization as an IAP so we can support you financially and have a little fun creating stuff for ourselves. If you need anymore great ideas let me know lol keep it coming.
