This thread is excellent proof that people will complain about anything, even if those things are free.
I was going to add my post to the thread I have started about the Tower Bloxx update. I considered starting a new thread. But I placed it here as what it comes down to is the alteration of an already downloaded item. Paid or not there is an expectation. This is an issue which should be addressed because right now I think publishers are getting away with something they should not be.
+1. Hey, here's an idea...pay a freaking buck and get the World Tour and you get improved graphics, more locations, and no ads!
Annoying does not mean I feel ripped off, I just delete the game cause I think it looks ugly. You win some you lose some, I'm not affected since the game was free in the first place, it's just poor business practice to alter something people already have for the worse. The NHS (National Health Service in the UK) is free, and people never stop complaining about how that gets worse.
you really can't compare that to this game. Btw they should really look into france or norways health service
I can compare anything I like, it's on a vastly smaller scale but it still annoys me so obviously there's a comparison there.
You know, the air quality really shouldn't change without informing me first. I mean, I realize that it's free and everything, but it gets really annoying when I'm expecting a beautiful day so that I can go on a run, and then I get a horrible, smoggy day.
Exactly, and should you walk into a room filled with a lethal gas I'd have expected a warning on the door.
Am I mistaken or is this a game about tossing a wadded up piece of paper into a trash can? Can someone say priorities?
well you know what i meant, and its bascially a lite version for WT now. I personally don't mind that they did as I prob would have done the same thing as it may lure more people to buy WT. Mostly I dont care cause I never really prefered the gamel lol. Yes you guys go on about the principles but get over it, its free so if you don't like it delete it.
No, but I can say "iPhone game forum". Is this not the place to discuss this stuff? If I were thinking about priorities right now I wouldn't even be on here, so as far as I'm concerned when I'm on this website, game topics are of the highest priority. Some people still seem to think I feel ripped off, but I don't. I'm merely pointing out that regardless of whether or not you agree, adding ads to free apps doesn't go down well with some people, and results in apps being deleted. If I were a developer I'd constantly try to avoid lowering the standard of something I'd given people, either free or for a price. Is this not a general rule of thumb for almost everything in the world? Standards are supposed to go up, not down. Price doesn't even come into it.
You're right...I was just having a bit of fun. The bigger issue is the ads, I agree there. I guess I just found it humorous that the game that was being used as an example was a free paper toss game.
Well yeah it is a bad example. I don't even like the game, free or not. It wasn't even a complaint when I made this topic, I'd just genuinely forgotten if they'd always been there. If they weren't there I might have kept the app just for looking somewhat pretty.
There is a bigger issue with putting in ads without consent...I'm sure they have the right, but it does seem to be a dangerous game to play. The first app I remember this happening with believe it or not was The Weather Channel app. That's also free (and really good), and when I first got it there were no ads. After an update, however, there they were. I do remember being put off by it at the time. If I didn't think it was a good app, I would have deleted it then and there.
yeah, I was really unhappy to see ads in the weather channel app I am definitely not a fan of seeing ads in apps, I also don't like it when a dev puts in a button that you can click on to see their other games and it doesn't warn you that it will be closing the app and taking you to the app store or safari without a warning and asking confirmation
