Universal [DevLog] The Shepherd - One tap platformer based on Luke 15

    Hey everyone!! We're a small upcoming indie studio bringing our vision to life and people to Christ. (Has a nice ring to it.) We want to give you all a quick breakdown of The Shepherd, and we hope you all stick with us on this journey.

    What is The Shepherd?

    The Shepherd is a one tap pixel platformer based on Luke 15:3-7, (Parable of the Lost Sheep). You must help our hero, Shep the Shepherd, finesse difficult obstacles while searching for his lost sheep that wandered off and is now captured.​


    Gameplay features?

    1. Just tap the screen to jump. (Seems simple enough. ;) )
    2. LOTS of spikes to dodge and finesse
    3. Platforms get harder to jump on as game progresses

    When will the game release?

    September 28 (estimate) [I know that's crazy and really soon, but we think it's crazy enough to work.]

    What platform?

    iOS first, then Android

    Current progress so far

    1. Working prototype/engine
    2. Sprites for Shep and are done

    What needs to be completed?

    1. Clean up and tweak sprites for main menu, background, and other characters (?)
    2. Tweak the level design
    3. Add music and sounds

    Current Goal
    Finish Alpha or Beta at the end of August

    [DevLog] The Shepherd #2 - Background and platforms

    Hello All,

    Sorry about the delay on updates but we're back in stride again. This past week we've been working on making the background having a nice contrast with Shep and his lost sheep. We also made the platforms that will be used as well. (We're thinking about making disappearing platforms, but that's another update.) Last we've been retouching the design on the original levels that were created. We don't want to make The Shepherd to hard or too easy, but happily frustrating. Thanks for sticking with us and reading and leave feedback on what we have so far. - God Bless

    [DevLog] The Shepherd #3 - First Few Levels in Action

    Hello everyone!!! I apologize for the lack of updates lately. We've been working hard trying to get a working beta, and we've finally made some progress. There's still a few things we have to tweak, but we're making tremendous progress as you can see in the video below. Here's what we've achieved so far, what we have to do next, and a look a the first few levels of The Shepherd. Thanks for sticking with us and patiently waiting on updates. May God bless everyone who views this thread.

    What we've achieved so far

    1. Working prototype with less bugs
    2. Sprites and animations for Shep, the sheep, and cutscenes
    3. Working main menu
    4. Levels 1-10 are happily frustrating
    5. Added music and sounds

    What needs to be completed next:
    1. Fix levels 11-19 (which are impossible to play)
    2. Fix Shep's double jump
    3. Fix bug that has background objects appear in the death animations
