I beat the game today. I'd give it a 7/10. Story was just ok. The AI needs to be improved. I had a problem with enemies running right up to me so I can easily shoot them in the face with my shotgun. Also when fighting against the enemies when you first enter the city I was walking around crouched in the open and not one bullet hit me. Graphics are good not great. Voice acting ranges from terrible to ok. And lastly the weapons suck. If the AI and weapons are improved in an update I'd bump the score up to an 8. I never played a Deus Ex game before this and I'm going to play Human Revolution because of this.
There's a F.E.A.R element to this game. I was just getting into the game and enjoying it when the credits appeared! Was it that short?? Loved everything about it. I think I got a few hours out of it but when you're enjoying yourself time flies. I found myself wanting more NOW!!
About the weapons, they're supposed to suck, you're supposed to play it stealthily. The pistol with silencer can kill in one shot to the head.
I have full augs, and let me just say that the game is still awesome. I'm currently trying to get through the game without killing anyone. Has anyone gotten that achievement yet? Is it even possible? I thought I didn't kill anyone last game, but no achievement yet.
A couple things to note is that if you break a wall to knock up someone it will kill them, and if you are using a crossbow then you should make sure to equip tranquilizer darts. Also guys vote for this game as GOTW, right now it is neck and neck with Tiny Theif: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=196216
You're not supposed to play in any specific way. It's a good game, but due to the impossible challenge of adapting acceptable controls to any FPS on a touchscreen, the only real option is to play stealthily in this game. The whole idea in any Deux Ex game, ever since the original PC release have been to give the player real options in play preference. This game fails in that regard. Not the games fault though, no FPS controls good on a touchscreen.
Well even in the console version, the game is created to suit a stealth approach. If you walk in a room and shoot everything that moves, then you will die very quickly. It is much easier to kill people with headshots, and it is much easier to get headshots by shooting at unaware enemies then by shooting at enemies that are actively trying to kill you. Even with takedowns you are always encouraged to put them to sleep than stab them in the gut because killing them will alert nearby enemies. And if the devs didn't want you to play the game stealthily, then why would you get more XP for knocking someone out than for killing them? Myself and many others would beg to differ. In Modern Combat 4 I have a KD off ~3.00, while in Black Ops my KD is just under 1.00. Once you get used to the controls the games become very easy to play.
Reviews always talk about how unsuitable touch screens are for shooters but I got a console recently and was surprised how much harder it is to aim with a stick. I turn off auto aim in MC 4 etc. It's just what you're used to I suppose. EDIT. I don't get all those IGN mobile-haters. I've hardly touched the Xbox. Much prefer my iPad for games!
I know! I'm not hating on consoles, but I can never aim correctly using sticks. I love PC and iOS gaming for the ease of playing FPS games (PC would be better, but iOS is a close second). On another note, this game is probably the best iOS FPS that there is! I just hope a future update reduces the crashes. I don't restart my device before playing (I should), but games like Xcom barely ever crash, but this game crashes all the time. I typically don't mind much, but when I start 10-20 minutes back, it does tick me off. I've also lost achievements that way. This game is too good to give it anything under 5/5, but I hope they stabilize it in the next update.
Well, I find it next to impossible to engage in a frantic firefight on a touchscreen, so I don't understand how anyone find it optimal, but each to his own, I guess. I hate aiming with a stick in any FPS too, which is why I only ever play that kind of game on my PC with mouse and keyboard. On the PC it's very possible and enjoyable to go guns blazing in Deus Ex, and several upgrades encourages that kind of play, others lend themselves to stealth play, one isn't encouraged over the other. Both have always been a stable of the series, or rather, a choice for the player to make. In the iOS version I don't see there really is a choice due to the limitations of touchscreen.
I accidentally broke a wall and killed a guy, and that's what fouled up my first attempt at the achievement. I don't use my crossbow for taking out people; I only use it to help blow doors and kill cameras. I stick to the taser to take down people; it's a one shot takedown.
What limitations? You can do anything on a touchscreen. And soon, we'll have controllers. iOS is ultimate.
Is there a specific way to do this achivement? I found a beer in a trash can, selected the beer in the drop down menu thing, and then I double tapped it to drink. I know I drunk it because my health went up 5 points and my character acted drunk, however I didn't get the achivement. How are you supposed to do it?
Well, move and aim fast on a touchscreen is, for me, uncomfortable at best, impossible most of the time. I've bought and tried most FPS on iOS and given them all a fair chance, but I simply can't make it work. Respect to you if you can move and strafe fast, all the while aiming with any semblance of precision. I can't..
You have to do it quickly, before the indicator on your screen that says you picked up a beer goes away. Make sure you have beer in your quick select before you pick one up out of a trash can.
That might very much be the case. I got the achievement pretty quicky by exploring the train station after Costa Rica and drinking anything I found, at that moment in time you're very likely to have the beer auto-equipped on the quick slot, which made it nearly automatic for me.
I had one or two crashes on ipad 4 but very rarely. Great game but very short. Deleted it awaiting new content. Not really any replay value in my opinion.
