Searched and didn't find a dedicated thread for it so I figured I'd make one. Anyone else get it? I'm only a few hours in but already I'm amazed at how well the different genres come together. In particular, some of the dialogue decisions have literally made me put down the controller and think about how I wanted to answer. Even the Mass Effect series was never this engrossing to me from a conversation standpoint. But besides that, the stealth is very much in the same vein as Splinter Cell: Conviction, and that's not a bad thing at all. The shootiness (probably my new favorite non-word) is also very satisfying, though I wish you could take a few more bullets or have your health recharge a little faster. I'm kind of hoping to use my augmentations to play an angressive-stealth type character (stealth and strength being priorities), though so far I've only been able to use my points on things that need at that very moment (Protip: Invest in upgrading hacking to at least level 2, I didn't and now I'm stuck without a point to use on upgrading it even though I desperately need to). What about you guys?
I'm likely picking it up this weekend on OnLive. The original Deus Ex is one my favorite games ever and from everything I've heard HR lives up to its spirit.
I never played the original but this one built excitement with every prerelease trailer and video, it just seemed to look better and better. At the beginning however, I thought it looked pretty rubbish and now it's released, it looks pretty mediocre. I'm excited to see the dialogue trees in action (hell I picked up Alpha Protocol just for that) but I was rather disheartened when it said the game put an emphasis on stealth and it's a lot harder to play any other way. I do plan on playing it eventually though, but I think I'll just leave it a few months until the price has halved.
Haven't got it yet but it looks good I really enjoyed the original and this looks a lot better than the last sequel attempt.
If you're looking to pick up the Onlive version you might as well just get the PC version. It comes with a free redemption code for Onlive. Can't wait to play this on an iPad 2.
Good tip -- I'll do that. I wonder of more publishers will follow suit with that approach: I think it's an excellent idea, like Blue Ray movies that come with an iTunes gift code.
I've been looking forward to this game for a while. Now I just need to be patient and wait a few weeks for my copy to arrive from England, for my xbox to come back from repairs, and to try to avoid spoilers.
Definitely a step in the right direction for Onlive. It's really good to see them get strong support from an established publisher such as Square. As a further heads up to everyone, the PC version is almost definitely the best platform to get this on. You get the hard copy, an Onlive code, a Steam code and by redeeming the Onlive copy you also get access to the original Deus Ex GOTY edition. I really hope that UK copies will have this in preparation for Onlive's UK launch.
Source Slashdot Wow looks like Gamestop is out to rip off it's customers and trying to kill onlive for obvious reasons. I think they are right to be scared of it as I personally think onlive is brilliant but I see this as stealing from their customers. I've never bought from gamestop otherwise I'd boycott them for this it's kind of despicable.
This game's making me feel like a full-blown ****ing detective while trying to figure out who stole the Neuroprozyne. Hacking into offices, checking emails, going from room to room... LOL, I haven't had this much fun in ages. P.S. No spoilers above, don't worry.
Well this should be a good place to ask this question. Is Deus Ex HR worth getting? On PC? How long is the game?
