an RPG Maker VX Project that I would like to talk to you guys about

I have been on these forums for about 4 months now and I have learnt alot. I was inspired by Bolt Creative to start on a project, Game Maker 7 was not an option due to limited actions. I do not have a Mac so I could not do Iphone SDK. So, me and some of my team went onto RPG Maker VX.

I have been inspired to be a video games designer for quite a few years now and finally I have been motivated to create a project that everybody will enjoy.

    So, Destiny's Time!

    Story:
You are a Paladin who ends up in a different universe called Sectorium, to the one he originally lived in. Not much is known about him, but his name is Destiny. The universe he was mystically teleported to, comprised of 5 sectors. Each sector containes a special artifact, legend says that when all 8 artifacts are in one piece, it will destroy the fabric of time and space. Evil is afoot so Destiny must gather the 8 artifacts and defeat the guardian bosses that guard the artifacts, before the evil darklord uses the crests to destroy everything. Whilst finding the artifacts, Destiny will come across other quests in which it shall help him gather the 8 artifacts. Destiny will also come across team mates that shall enter his party, this will than force Destiny to battle more enemies because he now has more then one person asissting him. During the game, a scroll called The Declaration of Sectorium says that 4 noble warriors from around the universe, will siege upon the DarkLord and bring back justice to all of Sectorium.

Sounds like a typical RPG right? But its not, this contains nearly every genre of video gaming. Puzzle, Adventure, Fighting, Simulation and Minigames and a few more that I hope to be in.

This is where you guys come in.

I only posted this onto Toucharcade because I think that the community is so nice and friendly that its probably the best forums I have ever signed up on.

I would like some of you to register into my forums and just give a few ideas there and here so that we can create the best project ever.

Introduce yourself, chat amongst other members and be friendly.

I appreciate you reading this and if you don't want to sign up, don't have to. I am just glad that you have read the information about Destiny's Time.

Thank you very much and I appreciate you reading this, it means a hell of alot to me for this being my first official project that I have worked on for 2 months now.

    thank you,

Oh my, this game looks awesome!! Love the retro feel to it. Will join your forum and give some feedback for you as the game progresses. One idea that immediately popped into my mind was from and old Playstation game i played called Suikden. Dont remember the details, but basically you had captured a castle during a mission that you used throughout the game as a "homebase." During the game, you could recruit people from the various towns by performing tasks for them. They then would join you at your castle. These people wouldnt be used as team members to fight, but as merchants and such. So basically anything available in town that is necessary for you to heal up, upgrade equipment, sleep, etc...is available at your castle also at a reduced cost/or free. The more people you recruited, the bigger your castle would grow. Thats the basics. CAn give ya a bit more detail if this is something that would be possible in your game.

    Thank You so much IpodLady

in fact, I was thinking along the lines of that

It was a rough idea but first you have to buy this island where you can start upgrading and stuff, then you can recruit members but we can talk about this on the forums rather then here

    thanks alot

    You're welcome Lukearcade. :)

Just a suggestion tho. Make it so players can purchase this island easily early on. If it costs alot, then we might not be able to get it before half the games gone by and that kinda takes the fun out of the whole "castle/island building " process.

It will be probably be able to buy it on the first Island/Sector

Before this all happens I need to work on the next sector for awhile, then I will do this Island plan then focus on minigames

Mini games were also a part of your castle in Suikoden. You could gamble and such to make more money. That whole idea of making your own castle/island was a blast. On each mission, you got to recruit new people, some useful, some just for pure fun. Then when you went back "home" to cure yourself, upgrade weapons, you would always find some structural changes to your castle to explore. It added quite alot to the game.

    I love the idea

I wanted this project to be based on exploration, for people to see the world of Sectorium.

Doing the whole castle building process was actually more fun then the main part of the game. You would have members such as cooks, blacksmiths, various vendors for equipment, magic and potions. Guys who would identify items. If you found some crystal things, one would place them in your weapon to make them more powerful. The list just goes on and on. You had a hot tub to quick heal, gamblers, a lady who would display all the "unique" useless items you found throughout the game, which was a sort of mini quest that continued thru the whole game. There was a dining room where your team would gather to plan the next move. And elevator to move between floors of your castle and of course an elevator operator. That game was some time ago when games were somewhat limited. But if you could make all this work with your idea, it would be so awesome cause you could put alot more into it then technology allowed back then. All it takes is time, effort and imagination.

This would be more useful if you posted this in the forums :D

I may have to have you incharge of that area, not the making because I do that but you know like what goes in and stuff, thats only if your up to it

But before all of that you need to read some of the topics and gather some info

    nope, its for PC

unfortunately, you can't upload an ipod game thats been made by RPG Maker VX due to copyright reasons.

This is on PC, the purpose was to tell you about the project and how you can get invovled with it

You mean some of the stuff that would go into your island as you built it up?...Hmm, now that does sound interesting. I do have a bit of time on my hands that needs filling on occasion. Just let me know where/what areas you would like me to help on and how you would like me to go about this. I cant program anything on a PC worth a you know what, but i can come up with the ideas.

    Thats what I mean, ideas

You get to decide on what goes in the castle building part of the game.

Don't worry about time, this is expected to be finished next year because this game is going to be big, so far over 200 maps in one area

Wow....that is big. But sure, i can do that. At the moment, i do have time to put into this. I'll read up on your forum and get a feel for what the game has so far and see what i can come up with for this. The possibilities are endless really. Already have a couple of ideas that need expanding on.

Oh man....suikoden 1 was the best of them. Especially when Gremio died. I tried and tried to change that so he wouldnt, but it was scripted. Most emotional gaming moment i've ever played. If you can snag a copy somehow, i highly recommend it.
