Did you get those spaceships from the internet? If so it's illegal to use that for an app. If not, they're very nice spaceships, but they're rather small and I'm not sure if it would look very good as an app icon
I made another icon. This one took me longer than I was expecting (original artwork btw). I hope you like it! I personally think that both images work perfectly as an icon. This one in particular has a nice, clean look and, similar to the game, pretty basic (not fancy effects or anything like that). There's a good balance of color, and the bright orange and pink make it pop. I made the starship based on the model that I saw on the video for the game, and also threw a few meteors just to give it that look that you are in the space. Perfect for a retro game.
The icon is attached. It was created as a 512x512 in a LEGALLY purchased version of photoshop. All images were custom created, no copy and pastes from google images. If I do not win I retain all copyrights to this image, so don't steal it. If I win I will provide you with the 512x512 image and psd. Try not to drool on it too much, thanks. That looks great! One thing to remember though is that the corners will get cut off to make them rounded. Use a 90 pixel radius on the corners or your 512x512 icon to see what it will look like. I think right now the ship in the upper right corner will mostly disappear.
here is a slightly larger one for your enjoyment. (the 512X512 doesn't really have a whole lot more detail (woulda been pointless to do) but it is full resolution at that size (no pixleation))
