DEO's Downloads/Sales Stats

  1. Great blog!

I have to say I really relate with you because we are having a similar experience with Cavorite. We're inching up on 2,900 sales BUT we sold at $1.99. So even though it never peaked as high as DEO, we're in the same ballpark for total revenue. (In fact, I think that might be an argument for pricing higher instead of lower.) Like you, we're working on a "relaunch" strategy to help get it noticed again. We've already done one small thing -- ported to the Mac App Store.

I'm surprised folks are shocked at the budget vs revenue. I don't typically count my time as a cost (because I work full time), but if I counted my hours at a typical $75/hr rate, Cavorite would have cost nearly $50k to develop. So the numbers for DEO ring very true.

Anyhow, thanks for the blog! I think everyone benefits from open information.

Yup, you pretty much nailed it! That's exactly what we'll do! And yeah, we did get featured under New Games the first week and then the week after that we got featured under Hot Games.

Great analogy :) we've learned enough to where I think the changes we have in mind are worth another shot.

Never really thought about that! Thank you! I think we'll focus on the update and see how it does. From there, depending on the boost, will consider other platforms.

Thank you! And I've always questioned the 0.99 mark! Coming from a BlackBerry userbase we've done lots of research on the most profiting price mark which ended up being (believe it or not) 6.99! Of course iOS market is very different but I thought it was worth a mention regardless.

Yeah when you really start adding up the hours, the numbers grow quick.

Thanks for sharing and ps, I really like your game! It's looks awesome, definitely a lot of work went into it!

I'm really sad that your game didn't post bigger numbers, especially with all the work you put into it.
However, you'll "ride the tail" a lot once you get another game out. Each game will feed on the other and you'll get some long term revenue. I was hoping to see DEO way up because it is so darned beautiful.

Oh, as an aside, GameCenter will help A LOT if you are able to get it in. People like to brag. I'd make it a priority to put in GameCenter (as I recall, from a review you're not in GameCenter).
